This paper deals with the finite element analysis of a specific fault of the squirrel cage induction motors consisting in rotor bars breaking. Several variants of rotor bar faults are studied, using both quasi-static and transient magnetic field analyses. The numerical results in the reference case of healthy motor are experimentally validated by laboratory measurements.

The Eager, Lazy and Movement-based strategies are used in mobile computing system when handoff. They result in performance loss while moving the whole checkpoint on fault-free or slow recovery while not moving any checkpoint until recovery. In the paper, a compromise strategy is proposed. The whole recovery information are broken into two parts, which one little part with high-priority should b...

This paper proposes a new diagnosis algorithm to detect broken rotor bars (BRBs) faults in induction motors. The proposed algorithm is composed of a frequency signal dimension order (FSDO) estimator and a fault decision module. The FSDO estimator finds a number of fault-related frequencies in the stator current signature. In the fault decision module, the fault diagnostic index from the FSDO es...

What do you do to start reading how to mend a broken heart? Searching the book that you love to read first or find an interesting book that will make you want to read? Everybody has difference with their reason of reading a book. Actuary, reading habit must be from earlier. Many people may be love to read, but not a book. It's not fault. Someone will be bored to open the thick book with small w...

Gearboxes sustain a variety of faults such as broken-shafts, eroded, broken, or missing teeth, and even broken-cases. Casing mounted accelerometers can detect fault patterns but the signals are complicated and difficult to interpret. This study considers the tooth loading of ideal gears and gears with defects. A large industrial gearbox used in a 12m electric mining shovel is modeled. The nonli...

Differential Fault Intensity Analysis (DFIA) is a recently introduced fault analysis technique. This technique is based on the observation that faults are biased and thus are non-uniformly distributed over the cipher state variables. The adversary uses the fault bias as a source of leakage by controlling the intensity of fault injection. DFIA exploits statistical analysis to correlate the secre...

In this paper we analyze practical aspects of the differential fault attack on RSA published by Boneh, Demillo and Lipton from Bellcore. We focus on the CRT variant, which requires only one faulty signature to be entirely broken provided that no DFA countermeasures are in use. Usually the easiest approach for the attacker is to introduce a fault in one of the two RSA-CRT exponentiations. These ...

Condition monitoring is an important issue in the maintenance of electrical machines. In the last years several methods for fault diagnosis of the squirrel-cage induction motors were cited in the literature. Among these methods the Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is considered the most effective non-invasive fault detection method, because it can easily detect all the common electrical ...
