Bound upsilon states and their decays provide a unique laboratory for testing QCD, LQCD, and quarkonium potential models. I review recent results, some of which are significant improvements in precision over previous measurements and others are first-time observations. While most of the results presented are from CLEO III there are also notable contributions from BaBar and Belle who have just b...

The recently observed D sJ(2317) + meson is explained as a scalar cs̄ system which appears as a bound state pole, below threshold, in the DK scattering amplitude. The standard cs̄ charmed scalar Ds0 is found at about 2.9 GeV, with a width of some 150 MeV. For the scattering length of DK in S wave we predict 5± 1 GeV−1.

Fig. 3 shows PG,.,,,,, (m) for various numbers of observations N and various sizes of memory m. The Chernoff bound on P,*(a) was used for N 2 32. Quite naturally one does better with more memory. The P~,sym(m) curve for any given value of m follows the P,*(co) line for low values of N, diverges from it for larger values of N, and approaches a nonzero limit P,*(m) as N + co. This behavior is eas...

Quite detailed theoretical description of superfluid 3He is possible on length scales that are much larger than the atomic scale. We discuss weak links between two bulk states of 3He-B. The current through the weak link is determined by the bound states at the link. The bound state energies are spin split depending on the order parameters in the bulk. As a result, unusual current–phase relation...

For the last twenty years the melting of heavy quark bound states has been considered an unambiguous signal for deconfinement [1]. Understanding the modification of the properties of heavy quarkonia in a hot medium is therefore essential for understanding deconfinement. Phenomenological studies based on potential models have been recently accompanied by lattice QCD calculations. The temperature...

Quark-antiquark bound states are examined in the long-range strongcoupling limit with the minimal area law of lattice gauge theory assumed as input. Matrix element relations are established which in the effective theory obtain dynamical equations equivalent to a formulation of the flux-tube model.

We study a configuration in matrix theory carying longitudinal fivebrane charge, i.e. a D0-D4 bound state. We calculate the one-loop effective potential between a D0-D4 bound state and a D0–anti-D4 bound state and compare our results to a supergravity calculation. Next, we identify the tachyonic fluctuations in the D0-D4 and D0–anti-D4 system. We analyse classically the action for these tachyon...

The existence of hadronic molecular-type hybrids consisting of a baryon and a meson is argued. Long-range interactions due to one-pion exchange are shown to be strong enough to produce a loosely bound state. Specific features of a molecular hybrid are discussed.

Recent advances in the description of electromagnetic two-nucleon knockout reactions are reviewed. The sensitivity to different types of correlations and to their treatment in the nuclear wave functions, the effects of final-state interactions and the role of center-of-mass effects in connection with the problem of the lack of orthogonality between initial bound states and final scattering stat...
