The present study examined utility of the Illness Attitudes Scale (IAS; [Kellner, R. (1986). Somatization and hypochondriasis. New York: Praeger Publishers]) in a non-clinical college sample (N=235). Relationships among five recently identified IAS dimensions (fear of illness and pain, symptom effects, treatment experience, disease conviction, and health habits) and self-report measures of seve...
this thesis examines the significances and implications of inflicted physical pain in waiting for the barbarians (1980) by john maxwell coetzee (1940 - ). the researcher tries to show how body becomes a site for exercising violence. in this way, the government’s representatives turn bodies of the barbarians into blank pages through torturing in order to create the truth of the empire. in this p...
In political science the economic left-right dimension plays a central role. A growing body of evidence shows that the economic policy preferences of a large segment of citizens do not scale sufficiently. Using Mokken scale analysis, this study determines the causes of this phenomenon. Differences in the extent to which the economic policy preferences of citizens fit the left-right dimension ca...
We discuss exotic Higgs decays in an effective field theory where the Standard Model is extended by dimension-6 operators. We review and update the status of two-body lepton- and quark-flavor-violating decays involving the Higgs boson. We also comment on the possibility of observing three-body flavor-violating Higgs decays in this context.
In this paper, we show that for any dimension d ≥ 2 there exists a non-spherical strongly isoradial body i.e., a non-spherical body of constant breadth, such that its orthogonal projections on any subspace has constant inand circumradius. Besides the curiosity aspect of these bodies, they are highly relevant for the analysis of geometric inequalities between the radii and their extreme cases.
The Hall–Post inequalities provide lower bounds on N -body energies in terms of N ′-body energies with N ′ < N . They are rewritten and generalized to be tested with exactly-solvable models of Calogero-Sutherland type in one and higher dimensions. The bound for N spinless fermions in one dimension is better saturated at large coupling than for noninteracting fermions in an oscillator potential.
The three-body problem in one-dimension with a repulsive inverse square potential between every pair was solved by Calogero. Here, the known results of supersymmetric quantum mechanics are used to propose a number of new three-body potentials which can be solved algebraically. Analytic expressions for the eigenspectrum and the eigenfunctions are given with and without confinement.
We consider the problem of the motion of N bodies in a self-gravitating system. We point out that this system can be mapped onto the quantum-mechanical problem of an N-body generalization of the problem of the H + 2 molecular ion in one dimension. We derive a general algorithm for solving this problem, and show how it reduces to known results for the 2-body and 3-body systems.
Failure to follow professional ethics in midwifery will lead to harmful risks, including an increase in maternal and infant mortality. The aim of this study was to investigate the barriers to professional ethics in midwifery clinical care from midwives ’viewpoints in hospitals specializing in obstetrics and gynecology in North Khorasan province in 2018. This cross-sectional descriptive study wa...
With the advent of whole body, 3D electro-optical scanners, a new range of applications are emerging that exploit the availability of personalised, realistic human models. However, realistic rendering of such models usually entails a large number of polygons which can be unacceptable in many applications. We present a framework that exploits the approximate cylindrical and spherical symmetry of...
