This paper describes the interpolation of head related transfer functions (HRTFs) for all directions. The interpolation of HRTFs enables us to reduce the number of measurements for new user’s HRTFs, and also reduce the data of HRTFs in auditory virtual systems. A linear interpolation and the spline interpolation are evaluated and the advantages of both methods are clarified. The interpolation m...

The paper is focused on the understanding of the spline function as a modern tool in data analysis. We consider three numerical methods that offer framework for the spline function’s use as the interpolation, fitting and smoothing of the data. For each of these three methods, we present the corresponding spline and the conditions required by data for using the appropriate type of spline.

This paper describes the interpolation of head related transfer functions (HRTFs) for all direction in the median plane. The interpolation of HRTFs enables us to reduce the number of measurements for new user’s HRTFs, and also reduce the data of HRTFs in auditory virtual systems. In this paper, a simple linear interpolation method and the spline interpolation method are evaluated and it is clar...

The technology of computer graphics and digital cameras are prevalent. High-resolution display and printer are available. High-resolution images are needed in order to produce high quality display images and high quality prints for use in desktop publishing, large artistic printing, mobile phone etc. However, since high-resolution images are not usually provided, there is a need to magnify the ...

We study interpolation, generated by an abstract method of means, of bilinear operators between quasi-Banach spaces. It is shown that under suitable conditions on the type of these spaces and the boundedness of the classical convolution operator between the corresponding quasi-Banach sequence spaces, bilinear interpolation is possible. Applications to the classical real method spaces, Calderón-...

B-splines provide an accurate and efficient method for interpolating regularly spaced data. In this paper, I study the applicability of B-spline interpolation in the context of the inverse interpolation method for regularizing irregular data. Numerical tests show that, in comparison with lower-order linear interpolation, B-splines lead to a faster iterative conversion in under-determined proble...

We derive a natural extension of Boehm's free-form y-spline, the G* interpolating y-spline. Primarily, the conditions under which singularities in the spline formulation occur are investigated. Also, the effect that these singularities have on the interpolant are studied. Comparisons are made to the behavior of the interpolating v-spline.

Linear interpolation has been adapted in many signal and image processing applications due to its simple implementation and low computational cost. In standard linear interpolation the kernel is the second order B-spline   2 β t . In this work we show that the interpolation error can be remarkably diminished by using the time-shifted B-spline   2 β t Δ as an interpolation kernel. We verify ...

This note introduces bilinear estimates intended as a step towards an L∞-endpoint Kato-Ponce inequality. In particular, a bilinear version of the classical Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequalities for a product of functions is proved.
