One hundred and three Aspergillus isolates belonging to 12 species including: A. alliaceus, A. candidus, A. carneus, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger var. niger, A. niger var. awamori, A. niveus, A. ochraceous, A. sydowii, A. terreus, A. ustus, and A. versicolor based on morphological characters were obtained from various sources.
A total of seventeen species belonging to thirteen genera of fungi were isolated from soil samples collected from diverse part of city Bareilly during November 2012 to March 2013 at three intervals. The mycoflora were isolated on Yeast powder soluble starch (YpSs) agar added with antibacterial substances streptomycin. Identification and characterization of the mycoflora were made with the help ...
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Pistacia atlantica, which belongs to the Anacardiaceae family, grows in the Zagrossian region of Iran. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antifungal properties of Pistacia atlantica and olive leaf extracts against different fungal species. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, we assessed the activities of olive leaf extracts and Pistacia atlantica leaf and fruit ...
The ethanolic extracts of aerial shoots of Mollugo cerviana and its leaf derived callus were tested for antimicrobial activity using the filter paper disk assay method. Both the extracts showed antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia Coli. The antifungal activity of the extracts against Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus was nil or negligible.
Two anti-Aspergillus murine monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), designated 164G and 611F, have been produced; both specifically recognize cytoplasmic antigens of A. fumigatus, A. flavus, and A. niger by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The MAbs can identify Aspergillus spp. both in frozen sections by immunofluorescence and in paraffin-embedded clinical specimens by immunofluorescence and immunopero...
Susceptibility testing of 27 Aspergillus reference strains belonging to five species was performed using the microdilution broth method with yeast nitrogen broth and RPMI-1640. Similar results were found using the two media. The strains of Aspergillus fumigatus (n = 8) and Aspergillus niger (n = 4) had MICs of amphotericin B in the range 0.125-0.5 mg/L. In contrast, nine out of 13 strains of As...
A combination of MICs of an N-chloramine, a simple chlorinated amino acid, and diazolidinyl urea gave synergistic activity against bacteria, but not fungi. The two compounds at a higher concentration, 0.1 and 0.3%, respectively, gave synergistic inhibition of fungi; kill times were 1 h for Trichophyton tonsurans, 3 h for Aspergillus niger and Fusarium moniliforme, and 6 h for Aspergillus fumiga...
The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of Aspergillus infections among the patients attending at tertiary care hospital and Hospital environment in Navi Mumbai, India, from January 2014 to December 2014. Total 1785 samples were included in this study for prevalence of Aspergillus species. Out of which 251(14.06%) were positive for Aspergillus infection. Species wise distribution o...
BACKGROUND Aspergillus colonisation is frequently reported after lung transplantation. The question of whether aspergillus colonisation is related to the hospital environment is crucial to prevention. METHOD To elucidate this question, a prospective study of aspergillus colonisation after lung transplantation, along with a mycological survey of the patient environment, was performed. RESULT...
