An amperometric biosensor for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was developed via an easy and effective enzyme immobilization method with the “sandwich” configuration: ferrocene-chitosan: HRP: chitosan-glyoxal using a glassy carbon electrode as the basic electrode. In order to prevent the loss of immobilized HRP under optimized conditions, the biosensor surface was cross-linked with glyoxal. Ferrocene w...

Dakin and Dudley (1) and Keuberg (2) discovered the enzyme glyoxalase in 1913, and showed that it could convert methylglyoxal to lactic acid. The usual assay for this enzyme is a manomctric procedure (3). In 1928 Ariyama (4) described a method for the calorimetric determination of glyoxals involving the ability of these compounds to reduce Benedict’s uric acid reagent (5) in an alkaline medium....

silica-grafted n-propyl-diaza-15-crown-5 (sgpdc) with immobilized palladium nanoparticles was found as an efficient heterogeneous catalytic system for the heck and suzuki coupling reactions and satisfied results were obtained. different derivatives of aryl halides and alkenes under the heck reaction were converted to the corresponding products with good efficiency. the presence of electron-dona...

Large amounts of small ?-dicarbonyls (glyoxal and methylglyoxal) are produced in the atmosphere from photochemical oxidation biogenic isoprene anthropogenic aromatics, but fundamental mechanisms leading to secondary organic aerosol (SOA) brown carbon (BrC) formation remain elusive. Methylglyoxal is commonly believed be less reactive than glyoxal because unreactive methyl substitution, available...

The mechanism of the previously developed cross-coupling reaction of aryl Grignard reagents with aryl halides was explored in more detail. Single electron transfer from an aryl Grignard reagent to an aryl halide initiates a radical chain by giving an anion radical of the aryl halide. The following propagation cycle consists entirely of anion radical intermediates.

The one pot reaction of glyoxal and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in aqueous sodium hydroxide was found to be a safe and inexpensive method for the preparation of diaminoglyoxime. By increasing stoichiometric ratio of the hydroxylamine hydrochloride and decreasing the solvent volume, the product yield increased considerably (~ 70%).
