In these mostly expository lectures, we give an elementary introduction to conformal field theory in the context of probability theory and complex analysis. We consider statistical fields, and define Ward functionals in terms of their Lie derivatives. Based on this approach, we explain some equations of conformal field theory and outline their relation to SLE theory.

In this letter, we have considered the universe is filled with the mixture of tachyonic field and scalar or phantom field. If the tachyonic field interacts with scalar or phantom field, the interaction term decays with time and the energy for scalar field is transferred to tachyonic field or the energy for phantom field is transferred to tachyonic field. The tachyonic field and scalar field pot...

Using the inverse diffractive grating problem as an example, we demonstrate how a super-resolution can be achieved stably by using far-field data. The idea is to place a slab of a homogeneous medium with a large index of refraction above the grating surface, and more propagating wave modes can be utilized from the far-field data which contributes to the reconstruction resolution. © 2016 Elsevie...

I examine some problems standing in the way of a successful “field interpretation” of quantum field theory. The most popular extant proposal depends on the Hilbert space of “wavefunctionals.” But since wavefunctional space is unitarily equivalent to manyparticle Fock space, two of the most powerful arguments against particle interpretations also undermine this form of field interpretation.

We continue the analysis of Vacuum String Field Theory in the presence of a constant B field. In particular we give a proof of the ratio of brane tensions is the expected one. On the wake of the recent literature we introduce wedge–like states and orthogonal projections. Finally we show a few examples of the smoothing out effects of the B field on some of the singularities that appear in VSFT.

This paper focuses on the sampling problem in light field rendering (LFR) that is a fundamental approach to image based rendering. Quality of LFR depends on a light ray database generated from pre-acquired images, since image synthesis is a process of gathering appropriate light ray data from the database. For improving the quality, interpolation of light ray data is effective. It is based on a...

We study the following problem: can a classical sln Toda field theory be represented by means of free bosonic oscillators through a Drinfeld–Sokolov construction? We answer affirmatively in the case of a cylindrical space–time and for real hyperbolic solutions of the Toda field equations. We establish in fact a one–to–one correspondence between such solutions and the space of free left and righ...

The nitrogen vacancy center (NV) is a promising single spin system in diamond with optical polarization, readout and optically detected magnetic resonances (ODMR). The NV has been shown to be a sensitive magnetometer at room temperature. In particular, owing to their small size, NV centers in nanocrystals (nanodiamonds) offer magnetic field imaging with high spatial resolution. Competitive magn...

The deBroglie-Bohm pilot-wave theory is an interpretation of quantum theory in which the observer plays no fundamental role. In a pilot-wave theory, quantum systems are not only described by the state vector, but also by some additional variables. These additional variables, also called beables, can be particle positions, field configurations, strings, etc. In this paper we focus our attention ...
