The three-coordinate Ni(I) complex Ni(Cl)(P(2)), where P(2) is the diphosphine (iPr)DPDBFphos, reacts with the acids HCl·(dioxane) and 2,6-lutidinium chloride to generate Ni(H)(Cl)(P(2)) and Ni(Cl)(2)(P(2)). Photolysis of the Ni(H)(X)(P(2)) (for X = Cl, Br) results in formation of H(2) and the Ni(I) halide. This reaction also proceeds in reverse when heated.

Geobacillus thermoglucosidasius strain W-2 is a thermophilic bacterium isolated from a deep-subsurface oil reservoir in northern China, which is capable of degrading organosulfur compounds. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of G. thermoglucosidasius strain W-2, which may help to elucidate the genetic basis of biodegradation of organosulfur pollutants under heated conditions.

We performed haptoglobin (Hp) genotyping by polymerase chain reaction using allele-specific primer-pairs. The major six genotypes of Hp were identified using this method. Among Japanese individuals living in Ehime and Okayama Prefectures, the allele frequencies were estimated to be Hp2 = 0.723 and Hp1s = 0.277. Genotyping of Hp was possible with 0.3 ng of DNA and with 0.125 microliter of blood....

R forms of Pneumococcus may be converted into S forms of the homologous Type. In addition to the methods previously reported,-(1) animal passage and (2) growth in anti-R sera,-conversion may be effected by the following procedures as employed by Griffith; (1) The subcutaneous injection, in white mice, of large amounts of living R organisms. (2) The subcutaneous injection, in white mice, of smal...

Lymphoma 6C3HED-OG cells, known from previous work to be susceptible to the effects of guinea pig serum in vivo and dependent upon extrinsic asparagine for protein synthesis and growth in vitro, remained for the most part morphologically intact and countable in the electronic cell counter following exposures of 1 and 2 hr to the effects of heated (56 degrees C, 30 min) guinea pig serum injected...
