a new kinetic spectrophotometic method for the determination of trace amount manganese(ii) in tea real samples has been described based on it s the catalytic effect on the oxidations of 1 - (2 – pyridyl azo) - 2 - naphthol, (pan), by potassium bromated in sulfuric acid. the reaction is followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in the absorbance at 547.5 nm. under the optimum con...

It is known that 1-naphthol, as a result of superelectrophilic (dicationic) activation in superacid media, is able to react with such deactivated aromatic compound as o-dichlorobenzene to give 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1-tetralone (2), which is a highly valuable intermediate in the synthesis of the antidepressant, sertraline (1) and other useful derivatives. However, the analogous reactivity of 2-...

Sterile batch experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of pH, dissolved O2 concentration, and reaction time on interaction of 0.1 mM 14C-1-hydroxynaphthalene [1-naphthol] with poorly crystalline Al(OH)3(s). Negligible (<4%) sorption of 1-naphthol to Al(OH)3(s) was observed after 20 h reaction time (conditions dark, w/ O2). However, a significant increase in sorption of 14C labeled ...

where the values of the forward (kd) and reverse (kp) rate constants may be different from those in the ground state because of differences in the properties of the 2-naphthol in these two states (for example, Ka 6= K ∗ a in part I). The objective of this experiment is to determine the deprotonation/protonation rate constants of 2-naphthol in its lowest excited singlet state in aqueous solution...

The biotransformation of xenobiotics is essential to the maintenance of the body's integrity. Mucosal biotransformation has been well documented in the small and large intestine of animals and humans but whether the gastric mucosa plays a role in detoxifying ingested compounds remains largely unknown. The conjugation of the model phenolic compounds, 1-naphthol, by human gastric epithelial cells...

Structural changes in human serum albumin (HSA) induced by the pollutants 1-naphthol, 2-naphthol and 8-quinolinol were analyzed by circular dichroism, fluorescence spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering. The alteration in protein conformational stability was determined by helical content induction (from 55 to 75%) upon protein-pollutant interactions. Domain plasticity is responsible for the ...

The title compound, C(26)H(24)O(3), was synthesized via the coupling of 2-methoxy-benzaldehyde, 2-naphthol and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclo-hexane-1,3-dione. The pyran ring adopts a boat conformation, while the cyclo-hexenone ring is in an envelope conformation. The 2-methoxy-phenyl ring is almost perpendic-ular to the plane through the four C atoms of the pyran ring [dihedral angle = 88.76 (9)°].
