The standard ratio of spatial resolution between bands for high resolution satellites is 1:4, which is typical when combining images obtained from the same sensor. However, the cost of simultaneously purchasing a set of panchromatic and multispectral images is still relatively high. There is therefore a need to develop methods of data fusion of very high resolution panchromatic imagery with low...

This note is a review of works on retrieval of snow grain size from satellite images. A theoretical background is given and a number of models and algorithms are described. Most of the works are based on Landsat images with 30 m resolution and 7 optical channels, but the hyperspectral airborne AVIRIS sensor with 20 m resolution, and SAR has also been used. An algorithm derived from Landsat imag...

In this paper, we presented a method for integer reversible implementation of KLT for multiple component image compression. The progressive-to-lossless compression algorithm employed the JPEG-2000 transform coding strategy using the multiple component transform (MCT) across the components, followed by a 2-dimensional wavelet transform on individual eigen images. The linear MCTs we tested and co...

A new tasselled cap transformation based on Landsat 7 at-satellite re ectance was developed. This transformation is most appropriate for regional applications where atmospheric correction is not feasible. The brightness, greenness and wetness of the derived transformation collectively explained over 97% of the spectral variance of the individual scenes used in this study.

Hyperspectral imaging has been widely studied in many applications; this type of sensors is imaging spectrometry sensors, which divide the waveband into hundreds of contiguous narrow bands for analysis. These images provide much richer and finer spectral information than traditional multispectral images do. Hyperspectral satellite images require enormous amounts of data space. NASA's satellite ...

Soil Salinity has been a large problem in arid and semi arid regions. Preparation of such maps is useful for Natural resource managers. Old methods of preparing such maps require a lot of time and cost. Multi-spectral remotely sensed dates due to the broad vision and repeating of these imageries is suitable for provide saline soil maps. This investigation is conducted to provide saline soil map...

the changes in time and location of surface temperature from a water body has an important effect on climate activities, marine biology, sea currents, salinity and other characteristics of the seas and lakes water. traditional measurement of temperature is costly and time consumer due to its dispersion and instability. in recent years the use of satellite technology and remote sensing sciences ...

The incorporation of remote sensing (RS) data into digital soil models has shown success to improve soil predictions. However, the effects of multi-resolution imagery on modeling of biogeochemical soil properties in aquatic ecosystems are still poorly understood. The objectives of this study were to (i) develop prediction models for various soil properties (total phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbo...

Frequent cloud cover over the Amazon region is the greatest limitation to monitor, via optical remote sensing systems, ongoing activities that are threatening the greatest rainforest of the world. Current optical remote sensing satellites do not have sufficient temporal and spatial resolution in order to be used as operational monitoring system. For instance, with the Landsat system it has been...
