tan spot disease of wheat with the causal agent of pyrenophora tritici-repentis is a very serious  disease throughout the world causing severe yield losses. out of 163 isolates of the pathogen, collected from golestan and mazandaran provinces, 58 were selected for a study of population genetic structure. selecting the real representatives from the whole population was carried out according to t...

The replication-associated protein (Rep) of geminiviruses, single-stranded DNA viruses of higher plants, is essential for virus replication. Since these viruses do not encode their own polymerases, Rep induces differentiated plant cells to reenter the cell cycle by interacting with the plant homologues of retinoblastoma proteins in order to activate the host DNA synthesis machinery. We have use...

Rab GTPases are post-translationally modified by addition of geranylgeranyl moieties to carboxyl-terminal cysteine residues. For Rab proteins ending with xxCC xCxC and CCxx motifs this modification is catalysed by geranylgeranyltransferase type II (GGTaseII), and is entirely dependent on the Rab substrate being bound to Rab escort protein (REP). Several Rab proteins contain carboxyl-terminal Ca...

We previously reported that a 350-bp region of the adeno-associated virus (AAV) type 2 rep gene contains a cis-acting element responsible for the Rep-dependent replication of a transiently transfected rep-cap plasmid. In this study, we further report that replicated rep-cap sequences can be packaged into AAV capsids in the absence of the inverted terminal repeats.

Each year, large volumes of ornamental and food plant propagative stock are imported into the North America; occasionally, Ralstonia solanacearum is found systemically infecting this plant material. In this study, 107 new R. solanacearum strains were collected over a 10-year period from imported propagative stock and compared with 32 previously characterized R. solanacearum strains using repeti...

The nonstructural adeno-associated virus type 2 Rep proteins are known to control viral replication and thus provide the single-stranded DNA genomes required for packaging into preformed capsids. In addition, complexes between Rep proteins and capsids have previously been observed in the course of productive infections. Such complexes have been interpreted as genome-linked Rep molecules associa...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES PFGE, rep-PCR, and MLST are widely used to identify related bacterial isolates and determine epidemiologic associations during outbreaks. This study was performed to compare the ability of repetitive sequence-based PCR (rep-PCR) and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) to determine the genetic relationships among Escherichia coli isolates assigned to various sequence ...

Recent human functional magnetic resonance imaging studies (Summerfield C, Trittschuh EH, Monti JM, Mesulam MM, Egner T. 2008. Neural repetition suppression reflects fulfilled perceptual expectations. Nat Neurosci. 11:1004-1006.) showed that adaptation or repetition suppression is affected by contextual factors related to perceptual expectations, suggesting that adaptation results from a fulfil...

Plasmid F'(128) was formed by an exchange between chromosomal Rep sequences that placed lac near dinB between many pairs of Rep sequences. Plasmid F'(128) is critical for selection-enhanced lac reversion (adaptive mutation), which requires prior lac amplification. The structure of F'(128) supports the idea that amplification is initiated by Rep-Rep recombination and that general mutagenesis req...
