Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP), also known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, is a common benign dermatosis of pregnancy mainly affecting primigravidae and multiple pregnancies. We report here two cases of PEP with typical clinical and histological features presenting in the postpartum period.
Chronic Urticaria (CU) is a skin disorder characterized by wheal and flare with duration of more than 6 weeks affecting 1%-2% the population (more common in women). Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) is a rare dermatosis of unknown etiology that is most frequently seen in primiparas and twin/multiple pregnancies. The prognosis is favorable. We report a case of PUPPP in a primipara and review the clinical signs, differential diagnosis, possible etiologic factors, diagnosis, and therapy.
