The vein of Marshall (VOM) is widely known as a pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). To eliminate the triggers of AF, the Marshall potential can be ablated both from the endocardium with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and from the epicardium with ethanol injection. This is a case report of successful catheter ablation from the endocardium to visualize the electrically isolated area of the VOM.
This study was performed to validate the procedure of transarterial embolization of the renal artery (TAE-RA) using iohexol-ethanol solution in rabbits with unilateral experimental hydronephrosis and to evaluate the embolized kidney and contralateral normal kidney using B-mode ultrasonography and color Doppler ultrasonography. Experimental hydronephrosis was induced at 17 days after ligation of...
Superselective TACE is defined as TACE from the distal portion of the feeding subsegmental hepatic artery to evoke strong ischemic effects on a small area of the liver, thus avoiding damage to liver function. Lipiodol (iodized oil) is semi-fluid, and it can flow into the surrounding portal venules and hepatic sinusoids through peribiliary plexus (PBP) and the drainage route from the hypervascul...
27 Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the 3 leading cause of cancer-related death 28 worldwide, and the incidence of HCC is rising in the United States. Patients with cirrhosis of the 29 liver and viral hepatitis are at the highest risk of developing HCC. The diagnosis of HCC can be 30 made radiographically, with multiphase contrast-enhanced imaging; however, many lesions 31 require biopsy for d...
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare and very aggressive neoplasm that arises from the biliary epithelium, constitutes approximately 2% of all reported cancer, and accounts for about 3% of all gastrointestinal malignancies. Up to date, there are many modalities to diagnosis and treat with a range of sensitivity and specificity, and also the advantage and disadvantage of its modality. As a physician, w...
background : transarterial chemoembolization is the preferred treatment for unresectable, intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma. survival after transarterial chemoembolization can be highly variable. the purpose of this study is to identify the factors that predict overall survival of patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma who undergo transarterial chemoembolization as the in...
