We describe recent progress towards deriving the Fundamental Laws of thermodynamics (the 0, 1, and 2 Law) from nonequilibrium quantum statistical mechanics in simple, yet physically relevant models. Along the way, we clarify some basic thermodynamic notions and discuss various reversible and irreversible thermodynamic processes from the point of view of quantum statistical mechanics.
wax precipitate is one of the most serious issues the oil industry is currently facing, since it can cause some troubles such as increasing of the pressure losses in pipe which subsequently increases the required power for pumpage. to remove this problem, prediction of wax disappearance temperature (wdt) seems necessary. in this study, the pressure influence on the wax disappearance temperature...
In this paper we describe the potential of employing the concept of thermodynamic entropy generation to assess degradation in processes involving metal fatigue. It is shown that empirical fatigue models such as Miner’s rule, Coffin-Manson equation, and Paris law can be deduced from thermodynamic consideration.
In this research, at first ordinary Aloe Vera micropowder (OAMP) and its impregnated form (IAMP) as the natural sorbents were prepared and then characterized by several techniques such as Fourier transform spectrophotometry (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Elemental analysis (EA), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BET/BJH) essay and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). T...
Background and purpose: 2,4 dichlorophenol is one of the most important components of organochlorine. High resistance against degradation, creating odor and taste in water, high toxicity and being carcinogen have made this pollutant a great concern. Current study batch was done to investigate the adsorption of 2,4 dichlorophenol onto Magnetic Graphene Oxide Particles (MGO NPs). Materials and...
THERMODYNAMIC AND DYNAMIC MODELS FOR DIRECTED ASSEMBLY OF SMALL ENSEMBLES OF COLLOIDAL PARTICLES
Thermodynamic data are often used to calibrate or test amomic-level (AL) force fields for molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. In contrast, the majority of coarse-grained (CG) force fields do not rely extensively on thermodynamic quantities. Recently, a CG force field for lipids, hydrocarbons, ions, and water, in which approximately four non-hydrogen atoms are mapped onto one interaction site, ...
Inferring models from given data leads through many different changes in representation. Most are subtle and profitably ignored. Nonetheless, any such change affects the semantic content of the resulting model and so, ultimately, its utility. A model’s semantic structure determines what its elements mean to an observer that has built and uses it. In the search for an understanding of how large-...
