In this paper, we propose a new visual inspection method of defect detection on textile surfaces; selectively removing the textural information from textile surfaces. For this purpose we use Wavelet Shrinkage, which was originally proposed by Donoho & Johnstone as a method to remove Gaussian white noise. We also propose a modification of Wavelet Shrinkage to selectively remove textural informat...

Cervical cancer is considered to be the deadliest gynaecological cancers which affect women and it now seems that the only way it could be controlled is by employing an automated system. Of all the visual parameters which the brain uses to make sense of the world around us the textural features is the best reliable one. Here we have tried to exploit this concept by analyzing the textural featur...

A classification method based on textural information for metallic surfaces displaying complex random patterns is proposed. Because these kinds of textures show fluctuations at a small scale and some uniformity at a larger scale, a probabilistic approach is followed, considering textural variations as realizations of random functions. Taking into account information of pixel neighbourhoods, the...

The mechanism of fibrolite formation in metapelitic rocks of the contact aureole of Mashhad granite is examined in this study. According to textural features, fibrolite considered to be disharmonious. Textural evidence strongly suggests that most of the fibrolite in this aureole are formed by decomposition of biotite. Fibrolite produced late in the thermal history of the aureole through a react...

The aim of this study is to evaluate three different strategies to improve classification accuracy in a highly fragmented semiarid area. i) Using different classification algorithms: Maximum Likelihood, Random Forest, Support Vector Machines and Sequential Maximum a Posteriori, with parameter optimisation in the second and third cases; ii) using different feature sets: spectral features, spectr...

We have applied Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to sea ice SAR data to produce vector bases describing the elementary textural features in sea ice and use the projections of sea ice SAR image data to the sets of these basis vectors for classifying the SAR data. In this paper we solely concentrate on the classification based on the texture.

In this study, a pattern recognition system has been developed for the discrimination of multiple sclerosis (MS) from cerebral microangiopathy (CM) lesions based on computer-assisted texture analysis of magnetic resonance images. Twenty-three textural features were calculated from MS and CM regions of interest, delineated by experienced radiologists on fluid attenuated inversion recovery images...

This paper proposed an efficient approach, for weather Radar image classification and filtering, which is based on the combination of the textural analysis and support vector machine (SVM). Since the images are formed by two kinds of echoes, precipitations (rainfalls) and ground echoes (clutter), caused by earth's surface, thus, our purpose is to preserve precipitations and eliminate ground ech...

AIM To study the influence of dual time point 18F-FDG PET/CT in textural features and SUV-based variables and their relation among them. METHODS Fifty-six patients with locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) were prospectively included. All of them underwent a standard 18F-FDG PET/CT (PET-1) and a delayed acquisition (PET-2). After segmentation, SUV variables (SUVmax, SUVmean, and SUVpeak), me...
