This work reviews the production of terpenoids by endophytic fungi and their biological activities, in period of 2006 to 2010. Sixty five sesquiterpenes, 45 diterpenes, five meroterpenes and 12 other terpenes, amounting to 127 terpenoids were isolated from endophytic fungi.
Abstract Volatile terpenes are important compounds that influence fruit flavour and aroma of kiwifruit. Terpenes in plants also impact on the floral bouquet defence against pests pathogens leaves fruit. To better understand overlapping roles may fulfil plants, a systematic gene, chemical biochemical analysis terpene synthases (TPS) was undertaken Red5 kiwifruit ( Actinidia spp.). Analysis genom...
UNLABELLED The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum contains a nonphotosynthetic plastid organelle that possesses plant-like metabolic pathways. Plants use the plastidial isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway to produce volatile odorants, known as terpenes. In this work, we describe the volatile chemical profile of cultured malaria parasites. Among the identified compounds are several plant-like te...
Background Terpenes are important mediators of plant-environment interactions as well as often being economically important. Terpenes are biosynthesized via two spatially separate pathways: the MEP pathway in the plastid, the site of monoterpene biosynthesis and the MVA pathway in the cytosol, the site of sesquiterpene biosynthesis (McGarvey and Croteau 1995; Eisenreich et al. 1998; Rohmer 1999...
Terpenes are compounds that include monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, and terpenes, where isoprene is the basic structural unit of multiple oxygenated hydrocarbons. often found in plants, especially some Zingiberaceae or tulips, they have been obtained by direct extraction, chemical synthesis, microorganisms. They exhibit anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, analgesic activity, aid...
Monoterpenes (MTs) are highly hydrophobic substances present in essential oils. They cover a wide spectrum of biological effects with a membrane interaction as a common point. Here we studied the surface activity of camphor, cineole, thymol, menthol and geraniol, and their ability to reach and incorporate into model membranes affecting some features of their dynamic organization. All the MTs st...

The volatile components of 20 mango cultivars were investigated by means of simultaneous distillation-extraction, GC, and GC-MS. Three hundred and seventy-two compounds were identified, of which 180 were found for the first time in mango fruit. The total concentration of volatiles was approximately 18-123 mg/kg of fresh fruit. Terpene hydrocarbons were the major volatiles of all cultivars, the ...
The present study deals with the antimicrobial activity and phytochemical screening of the two medicinal plants, Tinospora cordifolia and Euphorbia hirta those are commonly available in India. Results of antimicrobial activity revealed that these medicinal plant extracts were very effective against Serratia marcescens, E. coli, Streptococcus thermophilus, Fusarium oxysporium, Aspergillus niger ...
