A fiber laser resonantly pumped 1.645 μm passively Q-switched Er:YAG laser is reported. Graphene on a silicon carbide was used as the saturable absorber for the Q-switching. The pulse energy of the 1.645 μm Q-switched Er:YAG laser was 7.05 μJ, with a pulse repetition rate of 35.6 kHz and an average output power of 251 mW.

In this study, Highly Oriented Pyrolytic Graphite was ablated in various polar and nonpolar solvents by Q-switched neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser (wavelength=1064 nm, frequency=2 kHz, pulse duration=240 ns). Then, the products were examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The images showed that different carbon structures such as cauliflower-like structures...

UNLABELLED Laser-assisted hair removal, Laser hair removal, Laser and light-assisted hair removal, Laser and light-assisted, long-term hair reduction, IPL photodepilation, LHE photodepilation; all these are acceptable synonyms. Laser (Ruby, Nd Yag, Alexandrite, Diode), intense pulse light, light and heat energy system are the different light-/Laser-based systems used for hair removal; each have...

BACKGROUND The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser was among the first non-ablative lasers to be used. High-fluence photoacoustic Q-switched laser treatments were shown to produce results akin to those seen with some ablative lasers. Previous low-fluence, non-thermal, Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers produced almost no results. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new combined photoacoustic/phot...

An analytical expression for the difference in buildup time between two longitudinal modes in a passively Q -switched laser resonator is developed and compared with experimental laser data. The results support the following temporal criterion for single-frequency, passively Q -switched operation: The difference in buildup time between any two longitudinal modes of the laser resonator should be ...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Port wine stains (PWS) are heterogeneous vascular malformations that can be treated with vascular-selective pulsed dye lasers (PDL). Hypertrophic PWS, especially in adults, are consistently less responsive to PDL. Furthermore, many PWS that respond well initially to PDL treatment may reach a response plateau, becoming unresponsive to further PDL treatments, a phenomenon...

We report on Q-switched waveguide lasers on the graphene-based crystalline Y-branch platform. By applying direct femtosecond laser writing of Nd:YAG laser crystal, a surface waveguide splitter with Y-branch geometry has been fabricated with depressed cladding configuration. The Q-switched lasing operation at 1064 nm is achieved in transmission mode, by attaching a two-layer graphene on the reso...

We develop models for the propagation of intense pulses in solid state media which can have either saturated absorption or reverse absorption. We model subluminal propagation in ruby and superluminal propagation in alexandrite as three and four level systems, respectively, coupled to Maxwell's equations. We present results well beyond the traditional pump-probe approach and explain the experime...
