AIMS To evaluate corneal electrolysis as a treatment for recurrent diffuse corneal opacities at the host-graft interface of the stroma or at the subepithelial region in two types of granular corneal dystrophy (GCD). METHODS Recurrence developed at the host-graft interface of the stroma after lamellar keratoplasty in a patient with Avellino corneal dystrophy (ACD). At surgery, the deep aspect ...
s: Background: Most commonly palatal region is used as the donor site for obtaining connective tissue graft for root coverage as it has the advantage of providing a wide area for obtaining the graft. In the cases requiring small size of graft other intraoral regions can also be used. This is a case report which demonstrates the use of interdental papilla for obtaining connective tissue for root...
Aim Comparison of the clinical efficacy (digitally volumetric, aesthetic, patient-centred outcomes) tunnel technique (TUN) with subepithelial connective tissue graft (CTG) versus coronally advanced flap (CAF) enamel matrix derivate (EMD) 5 years after gingival recession therapy. Materials and methods In 18 patients contributing 36 RT1 recessions, study models were collected at baseline follow-u...
Subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) has been extensively used for a variety of clinical applications. However, the surgical procedure may not allow control of graft thickness. The purpose of this case series is to illustrate a modification to the single incision palatal harvesting technique in order to control the SCTG thickness without increasing patient discomfort. Fifty cases from t...
The aim of this study was to analyze the transplant efficiency of non-pedicled buccal fat pad graft (BFPG) for the treatment of Miller Class I or II gingival recessions (GRs) and to compare these results with those of subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG), which is considered the gold standard. Twelve patients with Miller Class I or II (≥2 mm) bilateral recessions in maxillary premolars ...
PURPOSE A laterally positioned flap (LPF) combined with a subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) is one of the conventional approaches for resolving gingival recession defects, with the advantages of flap flexibility and extended coverage of the tissue graft. However, thus far, evidence is lacking for the use of this technique for the treatment of advanced gingival recession defects. This...
The authors present an interesting and unusual histology of compound odontoma from an 18-year-old female. Part of the subepithelial connective tissue beneath the enamel organ epithelium was replaced by a granular cell nodule, of a probable histiocytic nature. This case represents the first published report of odontoma accompanied by granular cells.
