OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to use a Collagenase-Dispase assay to investigate the potential of a new storage media, coconut water, in maintaining viable periodontal ligament (PDL) cells on simulated avulsed teeth. STUDY DESIGN Fifty freshly extracted human teeth were divided into 3 experimental groups and 2 control groups. The positive and negative controls corresponded to 0 minut...

Regular arrays of single atoms with stable magnetization represent the ultimate limit of ultrahigh density storage media. Here we report a self-assembled superlattice of individual and noninteracting Dy atoms on graphene grown on Ir(111), with magnetic hysteresis up to 5.6 T and spin lifetime of 1000 s at 2.5 K. The observed magnetic stability is a consequence of the intrinsic low electron and ...

Many potential applications have been proposed for carbon nanotubes, including conductive and high-strength composites; energy storage and energy conversion devices; sensors; field emission displays and radiation sources; hydrogen storage media; and nanometer-sized semiconductor devices, probes, and interconnects. Some of these applications are now realized in products. Others are demonstrated ...

Borohydride salts have been considered as good prospects for transportable hydrogen storage materials, with molecular hydrogen released via hydrolysis. We examine details of the hydration of sodium borohydride by the combination of X-ray absorption spectroscopy and first principles' theory. Compared to solid sodium borohydride, the aqueous sample exhibits an uncharacteristically narrow absorpti...

The FemtoMAX beamline facilitates studies of the structural dynamics of materials. Such studies are of fundamental importance for key scientific problems related to programming materials using light, enabling new storage media and new manufacturing techniques, obtaining sustainable energy by mimicking photosynthesis, and gleaning insights into chemical and biological functional dynamics. The Fe...

Contemporary storage-based information hiding methods support plausible deniability by embedding encrypted information among bulk random content. Since the presence of random data is easily detected, these schemes facilitate plausible deniability by enabling disclosure of less sensitive information whilst concealing the existance of some other information. We propose a covert channel on storage...

Magnetic nanoparticles are promising candidates for next generation high density magnetic data storage devices. Data storage requires precise control of the magnetic properties of materials, in which the magnetic anisotropy plays a dominant role. Since the total magneto-crystalline anisotropy energy scales with the particle volume, the storage density in media composed of individual nanoparticl...

As digital data is growing uncontrollably, the need for data reduction has become an important task in storage systems. For large scale data reduction, it is important to maximally detect and eliminate redundancy at low overheads. Data deduplication is a data reduction technique that reduces storage space by eliminating redundant data and only one instance of the data is retained on storage med...

chapter outlines; the index occasionally fails to direct the reader to pertinent material. The self-sufficiency of the individual chapters makes this the use to which this book is best suited. The third use for such a book is to provide continuing medical education for experienced practitioners. The frequent, thorough updating and the authoritative review by a board of consulting editors make t...

We report a first-principles study, which demonstrates that a single Ti atom coated on a single-walled nanotube (SWNT) binds up to four hydrogen molecules. The first H2 adsorption is dissociative with no energy barrier while the other three adsorptions are molecular with significantly elongated H-H bonds. At high Ti coverage we show that a SWNT can strongly adsorb up to 8 wt % hydrogen. These r...
