We propose a new model for the time evolution of livestock commodities which exhibits endogenous deterministic stochastic behaviour. The model is based on the Yoccoz-Birkeland integral equation, a model first developed for studying the time-evolution of single species with high average fertility, a relatively short mating season and density dependent reproduction rates. This equation is then co...

In previous years, curve evolution, applied to a single contour or to the level sets of an image via partial differential equations, has emerged as an important tool in image processing and computer vision. Curve evolution techniques have been utilized in problems such as image smoothing, segmentation, and shape analysis. We give a local stochastic interpretation of the basic curve smoothing eq...

We analyze the information that one can learn about the state of a quantum two-level system, i.e. a qubit, when probed weakly by a nearby detector. In particular, we focus on the case when the qubit Hamiltonian and the qubit’s operator being probed by the detector do not commute. Because the qubit’s state keeps evolving while being probed and because the measurement data is mixed with detector-...

A natural non-Markovian extension of the theory of white noise quantum trajectories is presented. In order to introduce memory effects in the formalism an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck coloured noise is considered as the output driving process. Under certain conditions a random Hamiltonian evolution is recovered. Moreover, non-Markovian stochastic Schrödinger equations which unravel non-Markovian master e...

A nonlinear stochastic growth equation for the spatiotemporal evolution of the surface morphology of amorphous thin films in the presence of potential density variations is derived from the relevant physical symmetries and compared to recent experimental results. Numerical simulations of the growth equation exhibit a saturation of the surface morphology for large film thickness originating from...

We derive a stochastic nonlinear equation to describe the evolution and scaling properties of surfaces eroded by ion bombardment. The coefficients appearing in the equation can be calculated explicitly in terms of the physical parameters characterizing the sputtering process. We find that transitions may take place between various scaling behaviors when experimental parameters such as the angle...

We discuss the dynamics of zonal (or unidirectional) jets for barotropic flows forced by Gaussian stochastic fields with white in time correlation functions. This problem contains the stochastic dynamics of 2D Navier-Stokes equation as a special case. We consider the limit of weak forces and dissipation, when there is a time scale separation between the inertial time scale (fast) and the spin-u...

This article proposes an optimal method for approximate answer of stochastic Ito-Voltrra integral equations, via rationalized Haar functions and their stochastic operational matrix of integration. Stochastic Ito-voltreea integral equation is reduced to a system of linear equations. This scheme is applied for some examples. The results show the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

In this paper, we study the set of stationary solutions of the Vlasov-Fokker-Planck (VFP) equation. This equation describes the time evolution of the probability distribution of a particle moving under the influence of a double-well potential, an interaction potential, a friction force and a stochastic force. We prove, under suitable assumptions, that the VFP equation does not have a unique sta...
