In this paper the M/M/2/K queueing Model with controllable arrival rates, different service rates and feedback is considered. The steady state solution and system characteristics are derived for this model. The analytical results are numerically illustrated and the effect of the nodal parameters on the system characteristics are studied and relevant conclusions are presented.

Abstract. In this paper, we propose to use the tailored-finite-point method (TFPM) for a type of steady-state reaction-diffusion problems in two dimensions. Three tailored finite point schemes are constructed for the given problem. Our finite point method has been tailored to some particular properties of the problem. Therefore, our TFPM satisfies the discrete maximum principle automatically. W...

— Most previous models about wireless channel are proposed to capture long-time channel characteristics. However, when we combine group transmission with error correcting mechanisms, the steady-state probabilities are no longer accurate enough to depict the short-time loss states. In this paper, we propose a new analytical model for group transmission which can capture influences of initial cha...

We adapt the descendant set approach used in polling models to the continuous fluid model. This enables to establish the steady-state relationship on Laplace transform level among the joint distributions of the fluid level and the state of the modulating Markov chain at end of vacation and at start of vacation. The main results of the paper are the steady-state vector LT and mean of the fluid l...

This paper presents the backward method of characteristics for simulating multidimensional transient and steady state radiative heat transfer. This method is based on the method of characteristics that follows photons along their pathlines. It makes use of a fixed grid and unlike the conventional method of characteristics, it follows the photons backward in time. The method (1) is accurate, (2)...

We discuss algorithms for the computation of the steady state features of PH/PH/l queues with bounded batch arrivals or batch services. Many characteristic quantities such as the mean and variance of queue length in continuous time, the mean waiting time, the waiting probability, etc. are obtained in computationaJIy tractable forms. We also show various numerical values.

A nonlocal model for heat transfer with phonons and electrons is applied to infer the steady-state radial temperature profile in a circular layer surrounding an inner hot component. Such a profile, following by the numerical solution of the heat equation, predicts that the temperature behaves in an anomalous way, since for radial distances from the heat source smaller than the mean-free path of...

Models of nutrient-plankton interaction with a toxic substance that inhibits either the growth rate of phytoplankton, zooplankton or both populations are proposed and studied. For simplicity, it is assumed that both nutrient and the toxin have the same constant input and washout rate. The effects of toxin upon the existence, magnitude, and stability of the steady states are examined. Numerical ...

FROM MULTIPLE CAPILLARIES TO SKELETAL MUSCLE TISSUE MICH ELE S. TITCOMBE AND MICHAEL J. WARD1 Abstract A mathematical model of the transport of oxygen from capillaries to skeletal muscle tissue is a di usion problem in a two-dimensional, bounded domain with Neumann and mixed boundary conditions. We consider N capillaries of small but arbitrary crosssectional shape and demonstrate that, for N > ...

This paper introduces a new analytical model for describing BitTorrent systems. This model builds on previous work on the population of peers, but attempts to go further and describe the population of pieces in the system. The model is a simple fluid model based on a Markov Chain of states, each of which represents the number of copies a piece has in the system. Preliminary results show that fo...
