The effective resistivity and conductivity of two media that meet at a randomly rough interface are computed in the quasistatic limit. The results are presented in the spectral density representations of the Bergman-Milton formulation for the properties of two-component composite materials. The spectral densities are extracted from computer simulations of resistor networks in which the random i...
Collecting insurance fraud samples is costly and if performed manually is very time consuming. This issue suggests usage of unsupervised models. One of the accurate methods in this regards is Spectral Ranking of Anomalies (SRA) that is shown to work better than other methods for auto insurance fraud detection specifically. However, this approach is not scalable to large samples and is not appro...
A continuous adaptive modulation multitone system for multipath fading channels is shown. To obtain a target BER and maximum aggregated rate, each subcarrier bit rate is modified independently to adjust the transmitted signal to the spectral channel shape and to track the channel variations dynamically. Spectral efficiency and the required feedback channel capacity are obtained through simulati...
The heavy-quark spectral function in a hot plasma is reconstructed from the corresponding euclidean propagator. The latter is evaluated through a path-integral simulation. A weak-coupling calculation is also performed, allowing to interpret the qualitative behavior of the spectral function in terms of quite general physical processes.
Multi-channel cochlear implants typically present spectral information to the wrong "place" in the auditory nerve array, because electrodes can only be inserted partway into the cochlea. Although such spectral shifts are known to cause large immediate decrements in performance in simulations, the extent to which listeners can adapt to such shifts has yet to be investigated. Here, the effects of...
This paper presents the large-eddy simulation of the lid-driven cubic cavity flow by the spectral element method (SEM) using the dynamic model. Two spectral filtering techniques suitable for these simulations have been implemented. Numerical results for Reynolds number Re = 12000 are showing very good agreement with other experimental and DNS results found in the literature.
A spectral reflectance reconstruction method based on combining PCA and regularized polynomial is proposed to optimize the spectral data and channel response. Firstly, the PCA method is used to reduce the high dimensional spectral data of the training samples. Then, the polynomial expansion for channel response of the sample is carried out to improve the accuracy of spectral reconstruction thro...
This study presents an alternative way to perform large eddy simulation based on a targeted numerical dissipation introduced by the discretization of the viscous term. It is shown that this regularisation technique is equivalent to the use of spectral vanishing viscosity. The flexibility of the method ensures high-order accuracy while controlling the level and spectral features of this purely n...
A spectral vanishing viscosity technique (SVV) is presented for the simulation of 3D turbulent incompressible flows within a rotor–stator cavity. One characteristic of this technique is that the SVV is active only for the short length scales, a feature which is reminiscent of Large Eddy Simulation models. The Spectral Vanishing Viscosity, first introduced by E. Tadmor for the inviscid Burgers e...
In this paper, chaotic dynamic and nonlinear control in a glucose-insulin system in types I diabetic patients and a healthy person have been investigated. Chaotic analysis methods of the blood glucose system include Lyapunov exponent and power spectral density based on the time series derived from the clinical data. Wolf's algorithm is used to calculate the Lyapunov exponent, which positive val...
