The objective of this paper is to investigate the problems related to the extensional integration of information sources. In particular, we propose an approach for managing inconsistent databases, i.e. databases violating integrity constraints. The presence of inconsistent data can be resolved by “repairing” the database, i.e. by providing a computational mechanism that ensures obtaining consis...
In a multidimensional (MD) database, dimensions may be subject to semantic conditions that are not enforced by MD DBMSs or data warehouse applications. Strictness and homogeneity are possibly two of them; and are crucial for the efficiency and correctness of answering MD aggregate queries and updating materialized aggregate views. Dimensions may become inconsistent, i.e. non-strict or heterogen...
When debugging an SDN application, diagnosing the problem is merely the first step: the operator must still find a fix that solves the problem, without causing new problems elsewhere. However, most existing debuggers focus exclusively on diagnosis and offer the network operator little or no help with finding an effective fix. Finding a suitable fix is difficult because the number of candidates ...
OBJECTIVE The aims of this study were to report the current incidence of wheelchair breakdowns, repairs, and consequences and to compare current data with historical data. DESIGN A convenience sample survey of 723 participants with spinal cord injury who use a wheelchair for more than 40 hrs/wk treated at a Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems center was conducted. RESULTS Significant increases...
Awareness and reporting of mesh-related complications of pelvic organ prolapse repairs have increased in recent years. As a result, deciding whether to use a mesh or not has become a difficult task for urogynecologists. Our aim was to summarize reasons for and against the use of mesh in prolapse repair based on a review of relevant literature. Scopus and PubMed databases were searched for paper...
BACKGROUND In 1998, a process of centralisation was initiated for services for children born with a cleft lip or palate in the UK. We studied the timing of this process in England according to its impact on the number of hospitals and surgeons involved in primary surgical repairs. METHODS All live born patients with a cleft lip and/or palate born between April 1997 and December 2008 were iden...
This paper describes a syntactic representation for modeling speech repairs. This representation makes use of a right corner transform of syntax trees to produce a tree representation in which speech repairs require very few special syntax rules, making better use of training data. PCFGs trained on syntax trees using this model achieve high accuracy on the standard Switchboard parsing task.
Previous approaches to detecting and correcting speech repairs have for the most part separated these two problems. In this paper, we present a statistical model of speech repairs that uses information about the possible correction to help decide whether a speech repair actually occurred. By better modeling the interactions between detection and correction, we are able to improve our detection ...
This review discusses the history of tracheal reconstruction; from early work to future challenges. The focus is primarily on prosthetic tracheal reconstruction in the form of intraluminal stents, patch repairs, circumferential repairs and replacement of the trachea. A historical perspective of materials used such as foreign materials, autografts, allografts, xenografts and techniques, along wi...
