Most series of patients with ventricular tachycardia (VT) of right bundle-branch block (RBBB)-left axis deviation (LAD) morphology include young individuals with no overt evidence of structural heart disease. In the present report, the clinical and electrophysiologic findings in two patients with verapamil-responsive VT and organic heart disease are described.

BACKGROUND Ventricular septal defects (VSD) is one of the most frequent congenital cardiac malformations and cardiac conduction disorders are still one of the serious postoperative complications in this surgery. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to compare the incidence of conduction disorders with the use of continuous compared to interrupted suturing techniques in VSD surgical repair. PATIENTS ...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Morphological abnormalities in 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) are seen in subgroups of healthy individuals like athletes and air-force personnel. As these populations may not truly represent healthy individuals, we assessed morphological abnormalities in ECG in healthy volunteers participating in phase I studies, who are screened to exclude associated conditions. ME...

We describe a 42-year-old professional driver with hypertension, obesity and recurrent episodes of highly symptomatic typical atrial flutter. Despite chronic sotalol treatment, 1:1 AV conduction with RBBB-morphology was observed. After excluding of thrombus in the heart chambers, the 'urgent' and successful RF ablation was performed.

BACKGROUND Data on the outcomes of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) with biventricular obstruction are limited. OBJECTIVE Our aim is to compare mid-term outcomes of biventricular outflow tract obstruction (BVOTO) HCM, left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) HCM and nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (NO-HCM) in children and adolescents who were treated with standard medica...

From a compilation of 1411 gross dissections of the hearts from patients who had had recent electrocardiograms prior to death, 62 were found to have frontal QRS axes between +90 and +1800. Thirty-eight exhibited an S1Q3R3 pattern-the second screening criterion basic to consideration for the label of left posterior hemiblock (LPH). Twenty-two of these also had right ventricular free wall weights...

Conduction abnormalities of the His-Purkinje (HP) system are common sequelae of surgical repair of heart defects. Standard electrophysiologic recordings may fail to demonstrate abnormalities of the HP system when routine intervals are measured. When the conduction system is stressed, certain HP features that may indicate latent conduction disease within the HP system can be revealed. These feat...

Genetic engineering in mice has created unprecedented opportunities to define the contributions of specific proteins in complex cardiological processes, but these opportunities also present significant challenges in characterizing murine cardiac function and relating insights gained into the human heart. These challenges are especially keen in defining electrophysiological phenotypes. Elucidati...
