In this paper, we study stochastic comparisons of order statistics of independent random variables with proportional hazard rates, using the notion of variance majorization.
The development of PHM propels the combination of design for testability and relevant PHM technology, which leads a need for the demonstration of PHM-oriented testability design. The paper mainly introduces the evaluation and demonstration method ranging from the design phase to the demonstration phase. Firstly, the index set to be evaluated is established according to the feature of the PHM-or...
UNLABELLED Risk for future clinical outcomes is proportional to the severity of liver disease in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV). We measured disease severity by quantitative liver function tests (QLFTs) to determine cutoffs for QLFTs that identified patients who were at low and high risk for a clinical outcome. Two hundred and twenty-seven participants in the Hepatitis C Antivira...
Product Service Systems (PSS) and Prognostic Health Management (PHM) have so far been researched individually in different domains and as unrelated research theme. However, to guarantee the availability of the asset, which is a typical demand in some PSS contracts, it is fundamental for PSS providers to be able to properly manage the asset's lifetime variability in order to avoid unscheduled do...
In this paper, we present some distributional properties of the survival and frailty distribution involved in the proportional odds (PO) frailty model. Stochastic orderings are studied for this proportional odds frailtymodel. It is showed that negative dependence arises in the PO frailty model as opposed to the proportional hazard frailty model.
System reliability can be affected by many factors, some of which are not machine-related. An important category of these non-traditional factors are human-related (HR) factors, such as expertise, collaboration, and motivation. Operational systems consist of machinery as well as human operators and decision makers. Therefore, a risk analysis is incomplete if the probability of human error is no...
In vivo inhibition of peptidylglycine-alpha-hydroxylating monooxygenase by 4-phenyl-3-butenoic acid.
Peptidylglycine-alpha-hydroxylating monooxygenase (PHM; EC 1.14.17. 3) catalyzes the first and rate-limiting reaction in the two-step process that alpha-amidates neural and endocrine peptides. The substrate analog 4-phenyl-3-butenoic acid (PBA) was shown in vitro to selectively inhibit PHM without affecting the activity of peptidyl-alpha-hydroxyglycine alpha-amidating lyase, the enzyme that med...
In this paper we consider a parametric Weibull mixture cure model for modeling time to default on a personal loan portfolio in presence of disproportionate hazard rate. The main contribution of this paper is to evidence that mixture cure models are appropriate for non proportional sceneries, which has not been claimed in recent articles that brings survival analysis approach for credit scoring ...
BACKGROUND Regression models for survival data have traditionally been based on the Cox regression model. However, its validity relies heavily on assumption of proportional hazards. Another restriction of the Cox model is insufficiency in dealing with time-varying covariate effects, since the regression coefficients are assumed constant. These weaknesses have generated interest in alternative a...
