It is considered that the process of fatigue fracture could be arranged the three classes, i.e., crack initiation, crack propagation and fracture. Of these the second process is important from the following point of view. (1) As has so far been reported in many publications, the importance of crack propagation process in total fatigue life increases in proportion to the increase in the stress c...

Delays that individual vehicles may experience at a signalized intersection are usually subject to large variation due to randomness of traffic arrivals and interruption caused by traffic signal control. While such variation may have important implications for the planning, design and analysis of signal controls, currently there is no analytical model available to quantify it. This paper descri...

Delay testing of combinational logic in a clocked environment is analyzed. A model based upon paths is introduced for delay faults. Any path with a total delay exceeding the clock interval is called a "path fault." This is a global delay fault model because it is associated with an entire path. The more familiar slow-to-rise or slow-to-fall gate delay fault, on the other hand, is a local fault ...

This paper compares the equilibrium properties of FAST TCP and TCP Vegas. Although the two have the same equilibrium point when all sources know their true propagation delays, FAST is fairer when there are estimation errors. The performance of Vegas approaches that of FAST when the queueing delay is very much less than the propagation delay.

Our modeling of PERT is composed of three parts: window adjustment, RED emulation, and queuing behavior. We start with the window dynamics. Similar to [7], we consider a single-link scenario and assume the forward propagation delay from the source to the router is negligible and thus the round-trip time R(t) measured by the end-user at time t is composed of backward propagation delay Tp and que...

In this paper we investigate the effects of the asynchronism of user signals in the uplink of a spread spectrum multi-carrier multiple access (SS-MC-MA) system. Different propagation delays due to different distances between the mobile transmitters and their base station cause asynchronous arrivals of the uplink signals in addition to multipath propagation. The proposed uplink SS-MC-MA scheme u...

This document presents WINNER channel models. The channel models cover WINNER propagation scenarios for indoor, urban macro-cell and micro-cell, stationary feeder, suburban macro-cell, and rural macro-cell. Both geometric-based stochastic channel model and reduced-variability (clustered delay-line) models are presented. The channel models are mainly based on measurement data. Keyword list: Chan...

In this paper we present a model to study the end-to-end delay performance of a satellite-ATM network. We describe a satellite-ATM network architecture. The architecture presents a trade-off between the on-board switching/processing features and the complexity of the satellite communication systems. The end-to-end delay of a connection passing through a satellite constellation consists of the t...

a semi-empirical mathematical model for predicting physical part of ignition delay period in the combustion of direct - injection diesel engines with swirl is developed . this model based on a single droplet evaporation model . the governing equations , namely , equations of droplet motion , heat and mass transfer were solved simultaneously using a rung-kutta step by step unmerical method . the...

residue number system (rns) is a non-weighted number system for integer number arithmetic, which is based on the residues of a number to a certain set of numbers called module set. the main characteristics and advantage of residue number system is reducing carry propagation in calculations. the elimination of carry propagation leads to the possibility of maximizing parallel processing and reduc...
