We prove the following theorem: let A be a UCT Kirchberg algebra, and let α be a prime-order automorphism of K∗(A), with α([1A]) = [1A] in case A is unital. Then α is induced from an automorphism of A having the same order as α. This result is extended to certain instances of an equivariant inclusion of Kirchberg algebras. As a crucial ingredient we prove the following result in representation ...

Let F be a global field of characteristic p > 0, F/F a Galois extension with Gal(F/F ) ≃ Z l (for some prime l 6= p) and E/F a non-isotrivial elliptic curve. We study the behaviour of Selmer groups SelE(L)r (r any prime) as L varies through the subextensions of F via appropriate versions of Mazur’s Control Theorem. With mild hypotheses on SelE(F )r (essentially a consequence of the Birch and Sw...

Let R be the Z-module generated by the irreducible characters of the symmetric group Sd . We determine bases for the kernel of the decomposition map. It is known that R ⊗Z F is isomorphic to the radical quotient of the Solomon descent algebra when F is a field of characteristic zero. We show that when F has prime characteristic and I d br is the kernel of the decomposition map for prime p then ...

If G is a finite p-solvable group for some prime p, A a solvable subgroup of the automorphism group of G of order prime to |G| such that A stabilises a p-block b of G and acts trivially on a defect group P of b, then there is a Morita equivalence between the block b and its Watanabe correspondent w(b) of CG(A), given by a bimodule M with vertex ∆P and an endo-permutation module as source, which...

Let p be an odd prime number and let S be a finite set of prime numbers congruent to 1 modulo p. We prove that the group GS(Q)(p) has cohomological dimension 2 if the linking diagram attached to S and p satisfies a certain technical condition, and we show that GS(Q)(p) is a duality group in these cases. Furthermore, we investigate the decomposition behaviour of primes in the extension QS(p)/Q a...

We compute the PSL(2, N)-module structure of the RiemannRoch space L(D), where D is an invariant non-special divisor on the modular curve X(N), with N ≥ 7 prime. This depends on a computation of the ramification module, which we give explicitly. These results hold for characteristic p if X(N) has good reduction mod p and p does not divide the order of PSL(2, N). We give as examples the cases N ...

LetR be a complete local ring of dimension d over a perfect field of prime characteristic p, and let M be an R-module of finite length and finite projective dimension. S. Dutta showed that the equality limn→∞ `(F n R(M)) pnd = `(M) holds when the ring R is a complete intersection or a Gorenstein ring of dimension at most 3. We construct a module over a Gorenstein ring R of dimension five for wh...

The characterization of H-prime radical is given in many ways. Meantime, the relations between the radical of smash product R#H and the H-radical of Hopf module algebra R are obtained. 0 Introduction and Preliminaries In this paper, let k be a commutative associative ring with unit, H be an algebra with unit and comultiplication △ ( i.e. ∆ is a linear map: H → H ⊗H), R be an algebra over k (R m...

All rings in this paper are commutative and Noetherian. If R is a ring and I ⊂ R is an ideal, cd(R, I) denotes the cohomological dimension of I in R, i.e. the largest integer i such that the i-th local cohomology module H i I(M) doesn’t vanish for some R-module M . For the purposes of this introduction R is a complete equicharacteristic regular local d-dimensional ring with a separably closed r...

For a prime number p, we construct a generating set for the ring of invariants for the p+1 dimensional indecomposable modular representation of a cyclic group of order p. We then use the constructed invariants to describe the decomposition of the symmetric algebra as a module over the group ring, confirming the Periodicity Conjecture of Ian Hughes and Gregor Kemper for this case.
