For paths Pn, G. Chartrand, L. Nebeský and P. Zhang showed that ac′(Pn) ≤ ( n−2 2 ) +2 for every positive integer n, where ac′(Pn) denotes the nearly antipodal chromatic number of Pn. In this paper we show that ac′(Pn) ≤ ( n−2 2 ) − n2 − b 10 n c + 7 if n is even positive integer and n ≥ 10, and ac′(Pn) ≤ ( n−2 2 ) − n−1 2 − b 13 n c + 8 if n is odd positive integer and n ≥ 13. For all even pos...

This report describes the first studies of inheritance of autoimmunity in inbred Palmerston North (PN) mice, a model of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Mating of PN mice with the nonautoimmune DBA/2 strain produced evidence that PN disease had a recessive mode of inheritance. When PN mice were crossed with autoimmune NZB mice, female offspring from both crosses developed anti-DNA antibodies...

The Merck pneumococcal (Pn) enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) for measuring antibodies to 12 serotypes (serotypes 1, 3, 4, 6B, 7F, 8, 9V, 12F, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F) were validated in 1999. Merck Laboratories developed the Pn assays using 10 microg/ml C polysaccharide, 100 microg/ml Pn polysaccharide (PnPs) 25, and 100 microg/ml PnPs 72 for preadsorption of samples, standards, and con...

BACKGROUND Patient navigation (PN) can improve breast cancer care among disadvantaged women. We evaluated the impact of a PN program on follow-up after an abnormal mammogram. METHODS Between 2007 and 2010, disadvantaged women with an abnormal mammogram (Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System [BI-RADS] codes 0, 3, 4, 5) cared for in a community health center (CHC) with PN were compared to th...

Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and peripheral parenteral nutrition (PN) are commonly used for patients who cannot meet their nutritional needs orally or via a feeding tube. These patients benefit from PN to optimize their nutritional status. PN can be manufactured by companies in premixed, standardized bags, or the nutrients can be compounded in individual pharmacies in their respective hospi...

BACKGROUND The oxidation of the methionine adenosyltransferase (MAT) by the combined impact of peroxides contaminating parenteral nutrition (PN) and oxidized redox potential of glutathione is suspected to explain its inhibition observed in animals. A modification of MAT activity is suspected to be at origin of the PN-associated liver disease as observed in newborns. We hypothesized that the cor...

To elucidate the origin of re-enhanced high-$T_c$ phase in heavily electron-doped Fe-pnictides, systematic $^{75}$As NMR studies are performed on LaFe$Pn$O$_{0.75}$H$_{0.25}$ by controlling pnictogen height ($h_{Pn}$) from Fe plane through substitution at $Pn$(=As) site with Sb or P. The measurements nuclear spin relaxation rate (1/$T_1$) and Knight shift ($K$) reveal that moderate fluctuations...

General theory of PN-surfaces (surfaces with rational offsets) is developed using dual Laguerre geometry and a universal rational parametrization of the Blaschke cylinder. This approach allows to construct new PN-blendings between two natural quadrics in many positions, and demostrate improved shape and lower parametrization degree than earlier proposed canal surface solutions. The construction...

We derive a recursion for the genus distribution of the graph family P32Pn, with the aid of a modified collection of double-root partials. We introduce a new kind of production, which corresponds to a surgical operation more complicated than the vertexor edge-amalgamation operations used in our earlier work.

In this paper, we consider the fault hamiltonicity and the fault hamiltonian connectivity of the pancake graph Pn. Assume that F ⊆ V (Pn)∪E(Pn). For n 4, we prove that Pn−F is hamiltonian if |F | (n−3) and Pn−F is hamiltonian connected if |F | (n− 4). Moreover, all the bounds are optimal.  2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
