The thermal stability of glucose-6-phosphatase in rat liver microsomes was examined in untreated and cholate-treated microsomes. Activity of the enzyme was measured with both glucose-6-P and mannose-6-P as substrates. Heat treatment did not cause glucose-6-phosphatase activity to decline to zero with a single rate constant in untreated microsomes. Instead, heat treatment produced an enzyme with...
An automated method is described for determining alkaline phosphatase activity in serum, with use of sodium thymolphthalein monophosphate as the substrate. The system makes use of standard AutoAnalyzer components, has a simple flow diagram, and does not involve dialysis. The method has good precision, and the results correlate well with those from the manual method of which it is an adaptation.
Phosphatase activities were compared quantitatively among selected species of pseudomonads. P. pseudomallei showed the highest activity of a bell-shaped pH pattern with a peak at around pH 5.0. P. cepacia had a similar pattern of milder intensity. In contrast, P. aeruginosa revealed an alkaline phosphatase activity with a pH optimum higher than 8.0, but the level of activity was much lower than...
Background: Enzymes are the biological catalysts which accelerate the various cellular reactions. In general, the enzymes alkaline phosphatase (ALPase), acid phosphatase (ACPase), 5′-nucleotidase (5′-Nu) and glucose-6phosphatase (G-6-Pase) have important roles in metabolism. In the present study, a comparative account of the localization of activity of four enzymes acid phosphatase, alkaline ph...
Nicholls, D. P. and Davies, J. S. (1977). Thorax, 32, 472-477. Acid phosphatase activity in carcinoma of the bronchus. Two cases are presented in which an undifferentiated small-cell carcinoma of the bronchus was associated with a considerably raised serum tartrate-labile acid phosphatase concentration. In neither case was there any evidence of a carcinoma of the prostate which, with a few rare...
We determined plasma (serum alkaline phosphatase activity in 854 healthy students of the Rochester, Minnesota, public schools. Prepubertal girls had somewhat greater upper limits than did boys, and there was a low trend of increasing activity in both sexes. At the beginning of adolescence increasing activities were observed, which peaked at ages 11 to 12 years in girls and at ages 13 to 14 in b...
1. Livers from gsd/gsd rats, which do not express phosphorylase kinase activity, also contain much less particulate type-1 protein phosphatases. In comparison with normal Wistar rats, the glycogen/microsomal fraction contained 75% less glycogen-synthase phosphatase and 60% less phosphorylase phosphatase activity. This was largely due to a lower amount of the type-1 catalytic subunit in the part...
cyp3a4 probably has the broadest catalytic activity of any cytochrome p450. it is a crucial task to test new drug candidates in a reliable system for their ability to induce expression of this enzyme. firstly, a total of 300 bp core distal enhancer of cyp3a4 xrem region (-7972/-7673) were amplified from human genomic dna. the pcr product was then ligated into a human secretory alkaline phosphat...
To monitor soil biological quality, it is of paramount importance to assess how chemically diverse organic residue amendments reciprocate matter. The present incubation study aimed evaluate the effect varying widely in their biochemical composition on dynamics enzymatic activity. changes pattern activity have been monitored over a period 63 days using total eleven different crop residues. enzym...
