The spin dynamics of the ferromagnetic pinned layer of ferro-antiferromagnetic coupled NiFe/MnNi bilayers is investigated in a broad frequency range (30 MHz-6 GHz). A phenomenological model based on the Landau-Lifshitz equation for the complex permeability of the F/AF bilayer is proposed. The experimental results are compared to theoretical predictions.

We study light-cone distribution amplitudes of heavy-light systems, such as a B-meson. By an explicit computation, we determine how two-parton distribution amplitudes mix with threeparton ones at one loop: φ+ is shown to mix only into itself, whereas φ− mixes with the difference of three-parton distribution amplitudes ΨA −ΨV . We determine the corresponding anomalous dimension and we check the ...

Based on a large scale spiking neuron model of the input layers 4Cα and β of macaque, we identify neural mechanisms for the observed contrast dependent receptive field size of V1 cells. We observe a rich variety of mechanisms for the phenomenon and analyze them based on the relative gain of excitatory and inhibitory synaptic inputs. We observe an average growth in the spatial extent of excitati...

This article contributes to the debate about phenomenology as a research approach in nursing by providing a systematic review of what nurse researchers hold as phenomenology in published empirical studies. Based on the assumption that presentations of phenomenological approaches in peer-reviewed journals have consequences for the quality of future research, the aim was to analyze articles prese...

This review explores the most significant dimensions and findings of phenomenological approaches in anthropology. We spell out the motives and implications inherent in such approaches, chronicle their historical dimensions and precursors, and address the ways in which they have contributed to analytic perspectives employed in anthropology. This article canvasses phenomenologically oriented rese...

These chapters discuss the problems of nucleation, spinodal decomposition and continuous ordering, and domain growth. The first and most obvious question that we will address is “What is the nature of these processes?” We will begin with simple theories that yield most of the physics correctly, but many of the details are not quite right. We will compare these theories with data from experiment...

We discuss the possible applications supersymmetric theories might nd in the eld of elementary particle physics. The supersymmetric generalization of the SU(3) SU(2) U(1) standard model is discussed in detail. Special attention has been devoted to the question of gauge coupling constant uni cation in the framework of supersymmetric grand uni ed models. * Lecture given at the conference "Gauge T...

In recent psychological literature on meditation, the terms "phenomenology" and "phenomenological" are sometimes used rather loosely to refer to introspective reports given by experimental subjects about their experiences during meditation. I Some psychologists have even developed questionnaires and procedures, characterized as ways of operationalizing phenomenology, so that subjects' introspec...

Planck scale physics represents a future challenge, located between particle physics and general relativity. The Planck scale marks a threshold beyond which the old description of spacetime breaks down and conceptually new phenomena must appear. In the last years, increased efforts have been made to examine the phenomenology of quantum gravity, even if the full theory is still unknown. Quantum ...

We perform a global Bayesian fit of the phenomenological minimal supersymmetric standard model (pMSSM) to current indirect collider and dark matter data. The pMSSM contains the most relevant 25 weak-scale MSSM parameters, which are simultaneously fit using ‘nested sampling’ Monte Carlo techniques in more than 15 years of CPU time. We calculate the Bayesian evidence for the pMSSM and constrain i...
