Spectrum scarcity due to inefficient utilisation has ignited a plethora of dynamic spectrum access solutions to accommodate the expanding demand for future wireless networks. Dynamic spectrum access systems allow secondary users to utilise spectrum bands owned by primary users if the resulting interference is kept below a pre-designated threshold. Primary and secondary user spectrum occupancy p...
National meteorological services are required to provide short and medium range weather forecasts, warnings and alerts for their territory. Modern-day weather forecasting is highly relying on numerical weather prediction (NWP). The medium range forecasts are produced with global models using the whole of Earth as a domain having a horizontal resolution of about 20-40 km. For short range applica...
We compare structural different methods of the artificial intelligence for wind power prediction modeling and build additionally ensembles of the models. As input variables for these prediction methods weather data of a numerical weather prediction model are used. The performance of the presented methods is compared to the predictions of the neural network based model.
Intraseasonal and seasonal prediction provides important information for decision-making and resource management, and has received increased attention in recent years. Despite substantial progress in numerical modeling in the past few decades, skillful seasonal prediction remains a challenge for many models. Verification and evaluation of model forecasts can offer users necessary information on...
GPS radio occultation (RO) measurements are a potentially important new source of profile information that can be used in numerical weather prediction (NWP). This paper outlines the options for assimilating the RO measurements into an operational NWP system. The importance of realistic estimates for the observation error estimates is discussed.

NUMERICAL weather prediction has been operational since 1955 (Thompson, 1961; Fawcett, 1962). However, insufficient data and computing power have precluded a similar capability for the ocean despite the potential for numerous military and civilian applications, e.g.: antisubmarine warfare, tactical planning, optimum-track ship routing, search and rescue, long-range weather and climate predictio...
