INTRODUCTION Bacterial urinary tract infections (UTIs) are very common complications in renal transplant recipients (RTRs). METHODOLOGY This study is a follow-up to a previous investigation of post-renal transplant UTIs, which led to changes in the antibacterial agents used for prophylaxis and its duration. In this retrospective study of the medical records of 86 RTRs, the incidence, risk fac...

The MIC of norfloxacin for the norA-disrupted mutant termed RDN1, obtained from quinolone-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus RN4220, was eightfold lower than that for RN4220. The increase in susceptibility was related to an increase of drug accumulation by RDN1. These results indicate that NorA plays an important role in the susceptibility of quinolone-susceptible S. aureus to selected quinolones.
Aims: Qualitative analysis of a mucoadhesive polymeric (Carbopol940) suspension of Norfloxacin was carried out with the aim of developing an oral controlled release gastro-retentive dosage form. Methods: The characterization of ultrasonicated formulation was performed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman Spectroscopy, Xray powder diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron micro...
The growth-inhibiting and binary joint effects of 12 antibacterial agents on the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Korschikov) Hindák were investigated over 72-h exposures. The toxicity values (the median inhibitory concentration value, in micromoles) in decreasing order of sensitivity were triclosan (0.0018)>triclocarban (0.054)>roxithromycin (0.056)>clarithromycin (0.062)...
