Cobalt oxide (Co3O4) nanoparticles were successfully prepared by thermal decomposition of cobalt hydroxide synthesized from cobalt acetate, ammonium hydroxide and 10% glycerol. The cobalt oxide nanoparticles calcined at 450 °C were characterized by using XRD. The XRD confirms the crystallinity and crystal structure of the sample. It also shows that the diffraction peak are broadened which revea...

Structural control of Schiff base ligands for selective extraction of copper(II) was investigated by changing pendant arms and the distance between two imine-N donor atoms in ligands. Di-Schiff base ligands, N,N'-bis(2-quinolylmethylidene)-1,2-diiminoethane (BQIE), N,N'-bis(2-pyridylmethylidene)-1,3-diimino-2,2-dimethylpropane (BPMP) and N,N'-bis(2-quinolylmethylidene)-1,3-diimino-2,2-dimethylp...

Background and purpose: Nitrobenzene (NB) as the main material of synthetic fuels, cleaners, rubber and explosives is discharged into the environment and groundwater in large-scale. This compound is considered as a persistent organic pollutant with high toxicity and stable chemical structure which can cause serious risks for human health and ecosystem even in low concentrations. Therefore, the ...

Comamonas sp. strain CNB-1 degrades nitrobenzene and chloronitrobenzene via the intermediates 2-aminomuconate and 2-amino-5-chloromuconate, respectively. Deamination of these two compounds results in the release of ammonia, which is used as a source of nitrogen for bacterial growth. In this study, a novel deaminase was purified from Comamonas strain CNB-1, and the gene (cnbZ) encoding this enzy...

Reduced graphene oxide was used as a catalyst for reduction of nitrobenzene at room temperature. High catalytic activity and stability were exhibited in circular experiments. The catalytic procedure was in situ monitored by NMR and N-phenylhydroxylamine was proved to be the intermediate in this catalytic reaction.

We report here a luminescent metal-organic framework [Zn3(TDPAT)(H2O)3] [TDPAT = 2,4,6-tris(3,5-dicarboxyl phenylamino)-1,3,5-triazine] exhibiting strong luminescence at room temperature, which can serve as the first case of a dual functional luminescent sensor for quantitatively detecting the concentration of nitrobenzene and temperature.

The heat capacity of the liquid-liquid mixture nitrobenzene-dodecane has been measured for the first time near its upper critical consolute point using an adiabatic calorimeter. The theoretical expression for the heat capacity near the critical point was applied to our combined data runs. The critical exponent alpha was determined to be 0.124+/-0.006, which was consistent with theoretical predi...

This report summarizes work, done at Philco Applied Research Laboratory under Contract Nonr-4850(00). Extensive measurements were taken on the conversion efficiency and threshold of stimulated Raman emission in benzene, nitrobenzene, toluene, and carbon disulfide. It has been shown that the self-focusing action of a laser beam is responsible for the onset of stimulated Raman emission.
