Among all the aromatic compounds phenol is the major constituent of soil contaminated form many industries. Toxicity of phenol is well recognized for human as well as environment. In future, microbial system is the potential tool to deal with environmental pollutants like phenol. In the present study, an aerobic bacterial culture was isolated from oil contaminated soil by enrichment technique a...

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are ubiquitous persistent organic pollutants forming as byproducts in combustion processes. These compounds can become nitrated the environment even more toxic nitro derivatives. Both PAHs and nitro-PAHs accumulate soils which lead to pollution of vast areas arable land. The best means their elimination from is bioremediation that degradation by soil micro...

Methods for detection and quantification of phenol have been developed primarily for use in environmental and industrial monitoring, given the widespread use of phenol as a disinfectant and antiseptic. Little information is available regarding concentrations of phenol in the blood of patients treated with phenol in regional nerve blocks (e.g., intrathecal) for temporary relief of pain or spasti...

To explore the novel properties of carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) in nanotoxicity assays, the adsorption of phenol red (a pH indicator for culture medium) by multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and three kinds of carbon blacks (CBs) with nanosize, and its effects on cytotoxicity were studied. Results indicated that the phenol red adsorbed and delivered into cells by CBs was responsible for the t...

• Engineered a well-defined and shape-controlled Ag nanoparticles. The growth of nanocrystal shapes i.e., nanocubes, nanowires nanospheres are studied. shape facet dependency on nitro reduction kinetics had profound effect. nanocubes with low indexed facets {100} found to be active selective sites. nanoparticles surface area, intrinsic sites, exposed microcrystal lattice planes some the key fac...

A series of 2-(4-nitro-1-imidazolylmethyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole, 1,3,4-triazole and 3-(4-nitro-1-imidazolylmethyl)-1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their antimicrobial activity. Some of the tested compounds were active against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, Clostridium difficile, Aspergillus niger and Cryptococcus neoformans.

Here, the possibility of existence nitro-graphene derivatives with undisturbed graphene backbone is considered. Based on first-principles calculation, it shown that while NO $$_2$$ unable to form a covalent bond bare graphene, becomes possible in some structures hydrogenated graphane, fluorographene, and oxide. This paper presents, among others, an analysis surrounding influence C-NO strength. ...

Ralstonia eutropha strain E2 (previously Alcaligenes sp.) is a phenol-degrading bacterium expressing phenol-oxygenating activity with a low Ks (the apparent half-saturation constant in Haldane's equation) and an extremely high KSI (the apparent inhibition constant). To identify the molecular basis for these novel cellular kinetic properties, a 9.5 kb DNA fragment that allowed Pseudomonas aerugi...
