Osteoid osteoma is a small, benign bone neoplasm that consists of a well-demarcated nidus surrounded by a reactive zone of sclerosis.1,2 It is of unknown etiology and accounts for approximately 10% of symptomatic benign bone tumors.3 Initial treatment of patients with osteoid osteoma consists of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).4 If the pain is unresponsive to medical therapy or if...

OBJECTIVE This was a study of intra-aneurysm sac pressures in patients who presented with endoleaks after endovascular repair (EVAR) of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). METHODS Twenty-five patients (18 men, 7 women) with endoleaks, age (IQR 68 to 80), underwent 31 direct intra-aneurysm sac pressure measurements, DISP at 16 months after EVAR (IQR, 14 to 26 months). Diameter of AAA was 59 mm (...

OBJECTIVE Brainstem arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is rare and radiosurgical management is complicated by the sensitivity of the adjacent neurological structures. Complete obliteration of the nidus is not always possible. We describe over 20 years of radiosurgical procedures for brainstem AVMs, focusing on clinical outcomes and radiosurgical techniques. METHODS Between 1992 and 2011, the au...

Secondary hemifacial spasm (HFS) occurs by a conflict between the facial nerve and intracranial pathology, such as cerebellopontine angle tumor or vascular abnormality like arteriovenous malformation (AVM) aneurysm. HFS caused AVM is rare, optimal combination of treatment options has not been established. with without microvascular decompression (MVD) was provided in previous studies, outcomes ...

Seven patients with osteoid osteoma of the proximal femur were treated by percutaneous excision of the nidus. The combination of preoperative localisation by tomography and intraoperative localisation by image intensifier resulted in a curative procedure with minimal bone resection in all cases, although a second operation was required in one patient.

Gamma knife radiosurgery is an effective technique for treating arteriovenous malformations. However, treatment failures can occur as a result of incomplete visualization of the arteriovenous malformation nidus. We describe the use of bilateral femoral artery catheterization and simultaneous dual vessel cerebral angiography to facilitate treatment planning during gamma knife treatment.

Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign osteogenic lesion that is extremely rare in jaws. It is characterized by proliferation of either cancellous or compact bone and can be central, peripheral or extraskeletal. Pain is a distinctive feature of this lesion accompanied by vasomotor disturbances, which occur long before radiographic and histopathology findings manifest. Here, we present a rare case rep...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To develop and validate a discriminative model for predicting neurological morbidity after brain arteriovenous malformation (bAVM) surgery. METHODS Of 233 consecutive, prospectively enrolled patients undergoing bAVM surgery, the first 175 were used to derive, and the last 58 to validate, the prediction model. Demographic and angiographic factors were related to modified...

BACKGROUND Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a common benign bone tumour that is rarely found in the talus. Its nidus is difficult to detect on early imaging. The atypical symptoms of OO and the presence of concurrent trauma or sports injuries may lead to misdiagnosis and delayed treatment. We herein analyse a case of misdiagnosis of OO of the talus and discuss how to improve the early diagnosis of this ...
