Nickel oxide nanoparticles and nanoflowers have been synthesized by a soft reaction of nickel powder and water without organics at 100 C. The mechanism for the formation of nanostructures is briefly described in accordance with decomposition of metal with water giving out hydrogen. The structure, morphology, and the crystalline phase of resulting nanostructures have been characterized by variou...

In the present investigation, spherical nanoparticles of nickel ferrite with uniform structure were successfully produced by hydrothermal method in the presence of polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a polymeric surfactant at 180°C for 12 hour aging time and the effects of the synthesis time, temperature and surfactant were investigated. According to the X-ray analysis, conversion of nickel oxide ...

A facile and efficient hard-templating strategy is reported for the preparation of porous nickel microspheres with excellent uniformity and strong magnetism. The strategy involves impregnation of porous polymer microspheres with nickel precursors, calcination to remove the template, followed by thermal reduction. The morphology, structure, and the property of the Ni microspheres were characteri...

To enhance the mechanical properties in Ni-alumina nanocomposite coatings, it is necessary to increase the amount of alumina nanoparticles participation in nickel matrix. The aim of this study is the compassion investigation of Ni-Al2O3 nanocomposite coatings’ embedded nanoparticles affected by methanol addition to the electrolyte. In this investigation the composition of electrolyte was modifi...

Background: Although the production and usage of nanoparticles and their entrance to the ecosystem have increased in last decades, information about their negative impacts on organisms is scarce. We concentrated on the comparison of the toxicological effects of different concentrations of bulk-nickel oxide and nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO-NPs) on lesser (Lemna minor L.) and giant (Spirodela ...

In this research, nickel ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion route, and the effect of calcination temperature on phase constituents, magnetic properties and microstructure of the synthesized nanoparticles was evaluated using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). XRD results were submitted to quantitativ...

The kinetics of hydrogen absorption/desorption can be improved by decreasing particle size down to a few nanometres. However, the associated evolution of activation energy remains unclear. In an attempt to clarify such an evolution with respect to particle size, we electrochemically deposited Mg nanoparticles on a catalytic nickel and noncatalytic titanium substrate. At a short deposition time ...

Nickel compounds are widely used in industries and have been massively introduced in the environment in different chemical forms. Here we report the effect of two different chemical forms of nickel, NiCl2 and nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs), on the reproduction of the marine calanoid copepod Acartia tonsa. The behavior of nickel nanoparticles was analyzed with different techniques and with two pro...

Monodispersed nickel phosphide (Ni2P) nanoparticles were for the first time applied to photocatalytic hydrogen evolution from lactic acid aqueous solution under visible light LED irradiation using CdS nanorods as a photosensitizer. The system exhibited high photocatalytic hydrogen-generating activity and excellent stability in aqueous acidic media.
