This paper uses nonlinear regression, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Genetic Programming (GP) approaches for predicting an important tangible issue i.e. scours dimensions downstream of inverted siphon structures. Dimensional analysis and nonlinear regression-based equations was proposed for estimation of maximum scour depth, location of the scour hole, location and height of the dune downs...

the spatial distribution of petrophysical properties within the reservoirs is one of the most importantfactors in reservoir characterization. flow units are the continuous body over a specific reservoirvolume within which the geological and petrophysical properties are the same. accordingly, anaccurate prediction of flow units is a major task to achieve a reliable petrophysical description of a...

Most approaches for optimizing traffic signal timings deal with the daily traffic. However, there are a few occasional events like football matches or concerts of musicians that lead to exceptional traffic situations. Still, such events occur more or less regularly and place and time are known in advance. Hence, it is possible to anticipate such events with special signal timings. In this paper...

In this paper the concept of the Minimum Universal Cost Flow (MUCF) for an infeasible flow network is introduced. A new mathematical model in which the objective function includes the total costs of changing arc capacities and sending flow is built and analyzed. A polynomial time algorithm is presented to find the MUCF.

Software and hardware components are basic parts of modern networks. However the software component is typical sealed and function-oriented. Therefore it is very difficult to modify these components. This badly affected networking innovations. Moreover, this resulted in network policies having complex interfaces that are not user-friendly and hence resulted in huge and complicated flow tables o...

This article considers a two-player strategic game for network routing under link disruptions. Player 1 (defender) routes flow through a network to maximize her value of effective flow while facing transportation costs. Player 2 (attacker) simultaneously disrupts one or more links to maximize her value of lost flow but also faces cost of disrupting links. Linear programming duality in zero-sum ...

this paper presents a framework for long term transmission expansion planning in competitive, electricity markets. transmission lines and phase shifters are taken into account as expansion options. maximization of the network users' benefits, with satisfying security constraints are considered as the criterion for transmission expansion planning. the elements of the objective function are the...
