Morphological openings and closings form the cornerstones of a rich set of nonlinear operators in signal processing. In this paper, we show how a new morphological operator can be constructed that serves as an approximation to openings and closings for images corrupted by low levels of noise. 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. This paper deals with the use of some morphological tools for video coding at very low bit rates Rather than describing a complete coding algorithm the purpose of this paper is to focus on morphological connected operators and segmen tation tools that have recently proved to be attractive for compression

let h be a separable hilbert space and let b be the set of bessel sequences in h. by using several interesting results in operator theory we study some topological properties of frames and riesz bases by constructing a banach space structure on b. the convergence of a sequence of elements in b is de_ned and we determine whether important properties of the sequence is preserved under the con...

In the first part, we recall the axiomatic definition of the elementary morphological operators (dilations, erosions, anti–dilations and anti–erosions) and their characterization in the case of Boolean lattices. This characterization is used to derive the set operator decompositions from the general decompositions of operators between complete lattices. In the second part, we define the notions...

This paper deals with a class of morphological operators called connected operators These operators interact with the signal by merging at zones As a result they do not create any new contours and are very attractive for ltering tasks where the contour information has to be preserved This paper focuses on a class of operators dealing with motion information They remove from the original sequenc...

Hypergraphs can be built from a formal context, and conversely formal contexts can be derived from a hypergraph. Establishing such links allows exploiting morphological operators developed in one framework to derive new operators in the other one. As an example, the combination of derivation operators on formal concepts leads to closing operators on hypergraphs which are not the composition of ...

Although fuzzy operators have deserved a large attention in the Euclidean case, almost nothing exists concerning the geodesic case. In this paper, we address this question, by de"ning fuzzy geodesic distances between points in a fuzzy set, and geodesic balls in a fuzzy set (based on the comparison of fuzzy numbers), from which we derive fuzzy geodesic mathematical morphology operators. The prop...

Numerous methods based on square rasters have been proposed for polygon generalization. However, these ignore the inconsistent distance measurement among neighborhoods of squares, which may result in an imbalanced generalization different directions. As alternative raster, a hexagon has consistent connectivity and isotropic neighborhoods. This study hexagon-based method using morphological oper...
