for the first time, dioxomolybdenum(vi) complex with the general formula [moo2l2] containing a n-o bidentate ligands (hl=2-(o-aminophenyl)- benzimidazole) has been used for the oxidation of sulfides. elemental analyses (carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen), ft-ir and uv-visble spectra and 1hnmr analysis agree well with the proposed stoicheiometry of the complex [moo2l2].  a variety of sulfides were smoo...

Arenetricarbonyl metal complexes ([-phM(CO)3-] and [-biphM(CO)3-]; ph = phenylene, biph = biphenylene, M = Mo, Cr) constructed within Zr-based MOFs act as highly active and selective catalysts for epoxidation of cyclooctene. Catalytic activities of these complexes are enhanced with increasing the pore sizes of Zr-based MOFs.

Electrochemical water splitting is one of the most economical and sustainable methods for large-scale hydrogen production. However, the development of low-cost and earth-abundant non-noble-metal catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction remains a challenge. Here we report a two-dimensional coupled hybrid of molybdenum carbide and reduced graphene oxide with a ternary polyoxometalate-polypyr...

S tretching across the periodic table, in the gulf between the hyper-reactive alkali metals and stoic noble gasses, are the often overlooked transition elements. For Malcolm H. Chisholm, Distinguished Professor of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Ohio State University (Columbus, OH), however, that vast expanse holds some of the most fascinating chemistry. In the tongue-twisting element of ...

The iron-molybdenum cofactor (FeMo-co) of bacterial nitrogenase is a heterometallic cluster of composition MoFe7S9 that is attached to the apoprotein by a coordinative Mo-N bond to the imidazole group of hisa442, and by a Fe-S bond to cysa.215. The molybdenum atom of FeMo-co in the enzyme in addition is coordinated to one molecule of homocitrate (he), which is required for maximal N2 reducing a...
