Uncovering the origin of flavor mixing and CP violation is one of the main goals in elementary particle physics today. As part of this program, the constraining of the CKM unitarity triangle through the redundant measurement of its angles and sides plays a central rôle. The aim of the present summary is to review the state of the art regarding the measurement of the sides |Vub| and |Vcb|, as it...

Hydrodynamic transport coefficients may be evaluated from first principles in a weakly coupled scalar field theory at arbitrary temperature. In a theory with cubic and quartic interactions, the infinite class of diagrams which contribute to the leading weak coupling behavior are identified and summed. The resulting expression may be reduced to a single linear integral equation, which is shown t...

Allowed beta decay is studied using the elementary particle approach including all second forbidden terms. Model independent forms are given for various spectrum and correlation effects with parent polarization and/or orientation and for delayed particle emission correlations. The restrictions due to various symmetry assumptions are analyzed, as well as the problem of Coulomb corrections. We co...

In this paper we focus on an existence of a weak solution to a system describing a self-propelled motion of a single deformable body in a viscous compressible fluid which occupies a bounded domain in the 3 dimensional Euclidean space. The considered governing system for the fluid is the isentropic compressible Navier-Stokes equation. We prove an existence of a weak solution up to a collision.

Assuming the existence of a heavy Majorana neutral particle arising from a composite model scenario we discuss the constraints imposed by present experimental limits of half-life neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ) measurements on the coupling of the heavy composite neutrinos to the gauge bosons. For neutrino masses MN = 1 TeV we obtain a rather weak lower bound on the compositeness scale: Λ ...

Normal human fibroblasts in plateau phase ( congruent with 95% G(1) phase) were stained with the vital nuclear dye Hoechst 33342 (blue fluorescence) or the vital cytoplasmic dye Cell Tracker Orange (orange fluorescence) and plated at a ratio of 1:1. Only the blue-fluorescing nuclei were microbeam-irradiated with a defined number of 90 keV/microm alpha particles. The orange-fluorescing cells wer...

ÐConsider a hypercube of 2 points described by n Boolean variables and a subcube of 2 points, m n. As is well-known, the Boolean function with value 1 in the points of the subcube can be expressed as the product (AND) of nÿm variables. The standard synthesis of arbitrary functions exploits this property. We extend the concept of subcube to the more powerful pseudocube. The basic set is still co...

We introduce the standard model of elementary particles and discuss the reasons why we have to modify it. Emphasis is put on the indications from the neutrinos and on the role of the Higgs particle; some promising theoretical ideas, like quark-lepton symmetry, existence of super-heavy “right-handed” neutrinos, grand unification and supersymmetry at the weak scale, are introduced and shortly dis...

This paper describes the use of spatially-sparse inputs to influence global changes in the behavior of Dynamic Movement Primitives (DMPs). The dynamics of DMPs are analyzed through the framework of contraction theory as networked hierarchies of contracting or transversely contracting systems. Within this framework, sparsely-inhibited rhythmic DMPs (SI-RDMPs) are introduced to both inhibit or en...

It is shown that particle motion in a bent (straight) crystal is accompanied by particle spin rotation and oscillations that allows to measure the tensor electric polarizability of nuclei and elementary particles.
