Diffusion experiments in a simplified Na2O–CaO–SiO2 liquid system are used to develop a general formulation for the fractionation of Ca isotopes during liquid-phase diffusion. Although chemical diffusion is a well-studied process, the mathematical description of the effects of diffusion on the separate isotopes of a chemical element is surprisingly underdeveloped and uncertain. Kinetic theory p...

Context. Diffusion of atoms can be important during quiescent phases of stellar evolution. Particularly in the very thin inert envelopes of subdwarf B stars, diffusive movements will considerably change the envelope structure and the surface abundances on a short timescale. Also, the subdwarfs will inherit the effects of diffusion in their direct progenitors, namely giants near the tip of the r...

the molecular sieves are selective adsorbents. they can adsorb some kind of molecules that are different in size or shape from the others. in separation of n-paraffins from iso-paraffins and aromatics, sa molecular sieve is the suitable adsorbent, and can adsorb n-paraffins to separate them from other hydrocarbons. in this paper equilibrium isotherms of n-cs, n-c6 and n-c7 from an inert solvent...

Deterministic diffusion in temporally oscillating convection is studied for particles with finite mass. The particles are assumed to obey a simple dissipative dynamical system and the particle diffusion is induced by the strange attractor. The diffusion constants are numerically calculated for convection models with free and rigid boundary conditions.

‎A computational technique for solution of mathematical model of gas solution in a fluid is presented‎. ‎This model describes the change of mass of the gas volume due to diffusion through the contact surface‎. ‎An appropriate representation of the solution based on the M"{u}ntz polynomials reduces its numerical treatment to the solution of a linear system of algebraic equations‎. ‎Numerical exa...

We experienced a rare case of gallbladder metastasis from renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Ultrasound, computed tomographic, and magnetic resonance findings showed a hypervascular polypoid mass and correlated well with histopathologic findings. The mass showed high intensity on diffusion-weighted images, and the apparent diffusion coefficient was relatively low. These imaging findings are considered...

the kinetic of the heterogeneous chemical reaction of aluminum hydroxide and fluosilicic acid was studied. it was found that the diffusion of the reactants through the porous silica coating to the aluminum hydroxide surface and the interfacial chemical reaction between the diffusing reactant and aluminum hydroxide platelets control the overall reaction rate. these two phenomena were studied and...

Mass transport, such as movement of phosphorus in soils and solutes in rivers, is a natural phenomenon and its study plays an important role in science and engineering. It is found that there are numerous practical diffusion phenomena that do not obey the classical advection-diffusion equation (ADE). Such diffusion is called abnormal or superdiffusion, and it is well described using a fractiona...

We will show how the critical mass classical Keller-Segel system and the critical displacement convex fast-diffusion equation in two dimensions are related. On one hand, the critical fast diffusion entropy functional helps to show global existence around equilibrium states of the critical mass Keller-Segel system. On the other hand, the critical fast diffusion flow allows to show functional ine...
