In this paper using the Clifford algebra over R4 and its matrix representation, we construct Clifford scaling functions and Clifford wavelets. Then we compute related mask functions and filters, which arise in many applications such as quantum mechanics.

Background and aims: Employees in hospitals and healthcare centers are exposed to a wide range of respiratory contaminants, such as biological and chemical contaminants. To protect employees against these hazards, it is necessary to use respiratory masks with appropriate protection factor. This study aimed to assess respiratory hazards risk to determine the protection factor of mask in one of t...

To decrease the incidence of pneumoconiosis, we examined dust protective mask performance and its relation to pulmonary function as well as the effects of worker education on the proper wearing of masks. One hundred and seventy-eight workers from 15 factories subject to dust exposure participated in this study. All participants were interviewed to obtain relevant personal information and underw...

BACKGROUND Noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV) using a face mask is the ventilatory mode of choice in selected patients experiencing acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A high incidence of intolerance limits the use of this approach. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the sequential use of mask and helmet during NPPV in patients with severe exacerbation of COPD...

BACKGROUND Fencers often complain of progressive difficulty in breathing during matches, which is generally attributed to restricted air, light and heat circulation from wearing a mask. Physiologically, the nasal structure generates airflow resistance that can reach -50% of the total respiratory resistance. OBJECTIVES This study aims to investigate the presence of nasal obstruction in fencers...

We probed how processing of luminance increments and decrements interacts with attention dependent substitution masking. Results showed that a target was identified better when surrounded by an opposite polarity mask as compared to the same polarity mask. Opposite polarity mask decreased an effect of distracters, indicating influence on the time of directing attention to a target. The opposite ...

This paper gives a simple and original presentation of various coronagraphs inherited from the Lyot coronagraph. We first present the Lyot and Roddier phase mask coronagraphs and study their properties as a function of the focal mask size. We show that the Roddier phase mask can be used to produce an apodization for the star. Optimal coronagraphy can be obtained from two main approaches, using ...
