Abstract Herein we report the synthesis and structural analysis of tunable 1,4,7,10‐tetraazacyclododecane‐1,4,7,10‐tetraacetic acid (DOTA)‐derivatives bearing azidoethyl side chains. According to number chains, compounds are termed DOTXAZA (with X=1–4). All derivatives retain well‐approved DOTA scaffold for metal complexation with 8 coordinating functionalities applicable Cu‐catalyzed alkyne‐az...

Poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethylphosphorylcholine]-coated SPIONs were prepared through ATRP and amidation coupling reactions. The coated SPIONs exhibited high stability and re-dispersability in phosphate buffered saline and uptake in a stem cell line, with high T(2) relaxivity.

UV-visible titrations, (1)H NMRD experiments and molecular docking studies show that emissive anthraquinone appended dimetallic lanthanide complexes bind to DNA. The strength of binding and the observed relaxivity behaviour depend on the nature of the substituted anthraquinone core.

A multimodal, β-amyloid-targeted contrast agent was synthesized and studied in vitro. The agent has a higher relaxivity than a clinically approved contrast agent and interacts with β-amyloid aggregates producing changes in relaxation rate and fluorescence emission.

magnetic resonance imaging (mri) contrast agents most commonly agents used in diagnosing different diseases. several agents have been ever introduced with different peculiar characteristics. they vary in potency, adverse reaction and other specification, so it is important to select the proper agent in different situations. we conducted a systematic literature search in medline/pubmed, web of s...

Two macrocyclic ligands, 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1-glutaric-4,7,10-triacetic acid (H(5)DOTAGA) and the novel 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1-(4-(carboxymethyl)benzoic)-4,7,10-triacetic acid (H(5)DOTABA), were prepared and their lanthanide complexes (Ln = Gd(3+), Y(3+)) attached to an amino-functionalized T(8)-silsesquioxane. The novel compounds Gadoxane G (GG) and Gadoxane B (GB) posses...

Iron-oxide based contrast agents play an important role in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of labelled cells in vivo. Currently, a wide range of such contrast agents is available with sizes varying from several nanometers up to a few micrometers and consisting of single or multiple magnetic cores. Here, we evaluate the effectiveness of these different particles for labelling and imaging stem c...

Zinc(II) plays a vital role in normal cellular function as an essential component of numerous enzymes, transcription factors, and synaptic vesicles. While zinc can be linked to a variety of physiological processes, the mechanisms of its cellular actions are less discernible. Here, we have synthesized and tested a Zn(II)-activated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent in which the coor...

Engineered metalloproteins constitute a flexible new class of analyte-sensitive molecular imaging agents detectable by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), but their contrast effects are generally weaker than synthetic agents. To augment the proton relaxivity of agents derived from the heme domain of cytochrome P450 BM3 (BM3h), we formed manganese(III)-containing proteins that have higher electron...
