We apply the non-relativistic effective Lagrangian approach to the description of the K̄d atom, which is presently studied by the SIDDHARTA experiment at LNF-INFN. In particular, we demonstrate that a systematic calculation of the retardation effect in the K̄d scattering length is possible within this framework. It is argued that a relatively small size of the net correction for the double scatte...

We present deep, multi-VLA-configuration radio images for a set of 18 quasars, having redshifts between 0.36 and 2.5, from the 7C quasar survey. Approximately one quarter of these quasars have FR I-type twin-jet structures and the remainder are a broad range of wide angle tail, fat double, classical double, core-jet and hybrid sources. These images demonstrate that FR I quasars are prevalent in...

closed, appeared almost air-tight; the floor at one end, for a distance of about 4 feet, was covered with 3 inches of earth, evidently to allow the men to cook without endangering the wooden floor: on this were four choolas built against the side of the waggon, and several cooking pots carefully arranged; on the boards were lying the bodies of seven men in various comfortable positions, more or...

Aims. To interpret the galactic center H II region complexes as constituents of a barred galaxy’s nuclear star-forming ring. Methods. We compare 18cm VLA radiocontinuumm, 8 − 22μ MSX IR and 2.6mm BTL and ARO12m CO emission in the inner few hundred

We report on STAR analyses of p−Λ, p̄−Λ̄, p−Λ̄, p̄−Λ, p−p̄ and π−Ξ correlations in Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 62 and 200 GeV. Measured source sizes in p(p̄)−Λ(Λ̄) and p−p̄ are shown to be in qualitative agreement with flow expectations. Interaction potential between p−Λ̄, p̄−Λ was investigated by measuring scattering length, thus showing that correlation analyses in heavy-ion collisions can be used to s...

A solid long slender body is considered placed in a fluid undergoing a given undisturbed flow. Under conditions in which fluid inertia is negligible, the force per unit length on the body is obtained as an asymptotic expansion in terms of the ratio of the cross-sectional radius to body length. Specific examples are given for the resistance to translation of long slender bodies for cases in whic...

Star formation in interacting systems may take place in various locations, from the dust–enshrouded core of Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies to more unusual places such as the debris of colliding galaxies expelled into the intergalactic medium. Determining whether star-formation proceeds in the latter environment, far from the parent galaxies, in a similar way as in spiral disks has motivated th...

The Centre of our Galaxy the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ), contains 80% of all dense gas in the Galaxy, but holds only about 5% of current star formation. The CMZ is hotter, denser and more turbulent than anywhere else in the Galaxy. It is a truly unique place. It is also important as the CMZ has analogues in other galaxies that are typically used to estimate extragalactic star formation rates....

Characterization of Black Bengal bucks and does was performed in this study. A total of 50 goats of different aged were studied. The experiment was performed in Black Bengal bucks and does at 1 day and at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of age for measuring different parameters such as body length, heart girth, wither height, hip height, fore and hind leg length, head length and width, head length and wi...
