We calculate the free energy of SU(N) gauge theories on the lattice, to three loops. Our result, combined with Monte Carlo data for the average plaquette, gives a more precise estimate of the gluonic condensate.

We investigate the orbifold lattice theories constructed from supersymmetric YangMills matrix theories (mother theories) with four and eight supercharges. We report the application of the nonlinear σ model to study the multiskyrmion problem in the quantum Hall ferromagnet system.
