The detectability of planetesimal impacts on imaged exoplanets can be measured using Jupiter during the 1994 comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 events as a proxy. By integrating the whole planet flux with and without impact spots, the effect of the impacts at wavelengths from 2 4 μm is revealed. Jupiter’s reflected light spectrum in the near-infrared is dominated by its methane opacity including a deep ban...

in this thesis, a better reaction conditions for the synthesis of spirobarbiturates catalyzed by task-specific ionic liquid (2-hydroxy-n-(2-hydroxyethyl)-n,n-dimethylethanaminium formate), calcium hypochlorite ca(ocl)2 or n-bromosuccinimide (nbs) in the presence of water at room temperature by ultrasonic technique is provided. the design and synthesis of spirocycles is a challenging task becaus...

In this paper, a new algorithm to solve the discrete logarithm problem is presented which is similar to the usual baby-step giant-step algorithm. Our algorithm exploits the order of the discrete logarithm in the multiplicative group of a finite field. Using randomization with parallelized collision search, our algorithm indicates some weakness in NIST curves over prime fields which are consider...

We study the giant magnon solutions in the near horizon geometry of the Neveu-Schwarz (NS) 5-brane background. In conformal gauge, we find magnon dispersion relation in the large angular momentum (J) limit. We further show that the giant magnon poses uniform distribution of the angular momentum along the string world-sheet as in case of AdS5 × S5 spacetime.

Despite common belief, Baby Boomers form a sizable population of gamers. Paying attention to how this generation experiences a game can help companies that target this group of users increase their market share. To address this need, this study examines Baby Boomers’ reaction to a new way of manipulating objects in a game, namely with their eyes. In particular, the study focuses on testing the ...

A progress curve method for assessing time-dependent inhibition of CYP3A4 is based on simultaneous quantification of probe substrate metabolite and inhibitor concentrations during the experiment. Therefore, it may overcome some of the issues associated with the traditional two-step method and estimation of inactivation rate (k(inact)) and irreversible inhibition (K(I)) constants. In the current...

where α is a step size. If the gradient of f is Lipschitz-continuous with constant L, then using the step size α = 1/L guarantees that f(x) < f(x) (provided ∇f(x) 6= 0), and if f is convex that the distance to the optimal value f(x∗) as a function of k is O(1/k). Nesterov [1983] proposes a simple modification, referred to as the accelerated gradient method, that improves this to O(1/k), and und...

Euler's one step method is undoubtedly the simplest method for approximating the solution to an ordinary differential equation. It goes something like this: Given a first order initial value problem y = f (x, y), x ∈ (a, b) y(a) = y a we observe that defining x j = a + h(j − 1), for j = 1, 2, · · · , (N + 1) where h = (b − a)/N we have y(x k+1) − y(x k) h ≈ f (x k , y(x k)). Therefore we can wr...
