In this abstract we outline new developments in HCI systems and identify challenges for design and evaluation of emerging systems. We illustrate these developments and challenges with examples from research projects we are involved in.

In this paper we advocate the development of transdisciplinary educational programs with a strong focus on HCI, which use problem based learning (PBL) as a teaching methodology. We describe a novel education called Medialogy, developed at Aalborg University Copenhagen in Denmark, outlining through different case studies how PBL supports transdisciplinarity.
