We report a case of isolated portacaval adenopathy as the initial presenting feature in a patient with Hodgkin lymphoma. The differential diagnosis of masses located in the portacaval space is discussed and signs useful to localized tumors to this space are described.
CONTEXT Beginning with the immunologic classifications of Lukes and Collins and Kiel and culminating in the Revised European-American Lymphoma and World Health Organization classifications, the diagnosis of lymphoid tumors relies heavily on the determination of cell lineage, maturation, and function, based on antigen expression in addition to morphology and clinical features. Technologic advanc...
INTRODUCTION Patients with immunosuppression have an increased incidence of toxoplasmosis characterized by involvement of the central nervous system. Only a few cases of toxoplasmosis associated with immunosuppressive agents have been reported. Such cases have been reported in immune suppressed patients outside the Iran, but a search of the literature has not revealed any previous reports from ...
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a syndrome characterized by immune activation and subsequent widespread organ damage. Patients affected by HLH commonly develop fever, cytopenias, liver damage, neurologic manifestations, and hypercytokinemia. In this case, we describe a 60-year-old male who presented with HLH and concurrent Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, and Candida infections ...
BACKGROUND The value of performing post-therapy routine surveillance imaging in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma is controversial. This study evaluates the utility of positron emission tomography/computed tomography using 2-[18F]fluoro-2-deoxyglucose for this purpose and in situations with suspected lymphoma relapse. DESIGN AND METHODS We conducted a multicenter retrospective study. Patients wi...
Background: Contrary to adults, primary and metastatic involvement of CNS is a rare condition in pediatric malignant tumors. With CNS involvement the prognosis will be poor and practical treatment modalities will decline so new approaches must be reviewed. The aim of this study was to find out the incidence of CNS involvement in different childhood malignancies. Also the survival analysis w...

Lymphomas are solid tumors of immune system and Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas (NHL) is the most prevalent lymphomas; with wide ranges of histological and clinical features, it is so difficult to identify them. Herein, various bioinformatics tools (such as gene differential expressions, epigenetics and protein analysis) employed to find new treatment approach for NHL based on gene expression variation b...
