Ja n 19 99 February 1 , 2008 OITS - 667 Determining the Weak Phase γ in the Presence of Rescattering
We suggest a new technique to determine the CKM phase γ without neglecting the (soft) final state rescattering effects. We use (time integrated) B meson decay rates to π's and K's. A set of 5 ∆S = 0 (or 1 ∆S = 0 and 4 ∆S = 1) decay rates is used to compute the strong phases and magnitudes of the tree level and penguin contributions as functions of γ. These are used to predict a ∆S = 1 (∆S = 0) ...
Giving three examples, the form factors of the nucleon, the polarisability of the charged pion and the interference of the S11(1535) with the D13(1520) excitation of the nucleon in the η p-decay channel, it is argued that the hadron structure at low momentum transfer is highly significant for studying QCD.
We present exploratory results for the hadron mass spectrum and pseudoscalar meson decay constants using mixed actions. We use improved staggered sea quarks and HYP-smeared overlap valence quarks. We obtain good signals on 10 configurations at one lattice spacing and two different sets of sea quark masses.
We compute the hadron mass spectrum, the quark masses and the meson decay constants in quenched lattice QCD with non-perturbatively O(a) improved Wilson fermions. The calculations are done for two values of the coupling constant, β = 6.0 and 6.2, and the results are compared with the predictions of ordinary Wilson fermions. We find that the improved action reduces lattice artifacts as expected.
We review some recent theoretical progress in the understanding of weak radiative B meson decay, and discuss the implications of present and improved measurements of b → sγ for supersymmetric models. Talk presented at Beauty ’97, Fifth International Workshop on B-Physics at Hadron Machines, Los Angeles, CA, October 13-17, 1997. To be published in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Resea...
We discuss the spin properties of top quark pairs produced at hadron colliders at next-to-leading order in the coupling constant αs of the strong interaction. Specifically we present, for some decay channels, results for differential angular distributions that are sensitive to tt̄ spin correlations. PACS number(s): 12.38.Bx, 13.88.+e, 14.65.Ha
It is shown that the gauge boson mass is naturally generated–without Higgs–in the pion beta decay using the scalar strong interaction hadron theory. This mass generation is made possible by the presence of relative time between quarks in the pion in a fully Lorentz covariant formalism.
Energetic secondary particles in gamma and hadron initiated showers can generate Cherenkov photons. Using CORSIKA code and simulation data, different characteristics of lateral distribution of Cherenkov photon density are studied. In particular, physical origin of these differences and also dependence of this distribution on primary energy and altitude of observation level are discussed. It is ...
We compute the leading order (in α s) perturbative QCD and power (1/m 2 b) corrections to the hadronic invariant mass and hadron energy spectra in the decay B → X s ℓ + ℓ − in standard model. The computations are carried out using the heavy quark expansion technique (HQET) and a perturbative-QCD improved Fermi motion (FM) model which takes into account B-meson wave-function effects. The correct...
