The symmetry group of the staggered Fermion transfer matrix in a spatial direction is constructed at finite temperature. Hadron-like operators carrying irreducible representations of this group are written down from the breaking of the zero temperature group. The helicity amplitudes for the transitions N − S 11 and N − S 31 are presented. The amplitudes have been obtained within our front-form CQM model, based on hadron eigenstates of a relativistic mass operator and CQ current with Dirac and Pauli form factors.

The ALICE detector has been commissioned and is ready for taking data at the Large Hadron Collider. The first proton-proton collisions are expected in 2009. This contribution describes the current status of the detector, the results of the commissioning phase and its capabilities to contribute to the understanding of both pp and PbPb collisions

We derive first next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic resummations for jet-veto efficiencies in Higgs and Z-boson production at hadron colliders. Matching with next-to-next-to-leading order results allows us to provide a range of phenomenological predictions for the LHC, including cross-section results, detailed uncertainty estimates, and comparisons to current widely used tools.

This paper reviews the basic mechanical designs of most of the superconducting magnets developed for high energy hadron accelerators. The training performance of these magnets is compared with an instability factor defined by the square of the current density in the stabilizing copper divided by the surface-to-volume ratio of the strands. A good correlation is observed.

Results for b-quark production at hadron colliders, both current and proposed, are presented. Distributions in pt are presented for the TeVatron and SSC. Confirmation of agreement between the O(α S) calculations and UA1 data is presented, and the discrepancy between the O(α S) calculations and the CDF results is updated with the most recent data.

I discuss the current status of the comparison between theoretical predictions and experimental data, relevant to the production of open charm and bottom quarks in photon-hadron and photon-photon collisions. I advocate the use of a formalism that matches fixed-order computations to resummed computations in order to make firm statements on heavy flavour production as described by perturbative QCD.
